Mnet new dance survival ‘Street World Fighter : Directors’ War (STREET WORLD FIGHTER : Directors’ War)
Having ignited a ‘dance syndrome’ in South Korea, Mnet has finalized the title of its new dance IP that had been shrouded in secrecy and has embarked on a full-scale launch for this summer.
Mnet announced that this August it will present the new dance survival show ‘Street World Fighter : Directors’ War (STREET WORLD FIGHTER : Directors’ War, hereinafter ‘Seudipa’)’. This series continues the legacy of ‘Street Woman Fighter’, which triggered a global phenomenon, and, going beyond ‘world-class dancers’, shines a light on the world of ‘global performance directors’ who create the stage, with an unprecedented scale.
This series goes beyond a simple dance showdown, capturing the competition among ‘performance directors’ who, based on the creation of choreography, oversee stage composition and direction as well as storytelling. Rather than who dances better, it will unfold as a new level of survival that determines who has created the more overwhelming ‘work’.
In particular, the performance director teaser video released on Tuesday the 21st has drawn fervent attention from global fans the moment it was unveiled. The footage flashed through stages of overwhelming scale, including major award ceremonies such as the MAMA AWARDS (Mama Awards), the world-renowned music festival Coachella, the Super Bowl halftime show, the Olympic opening ceremony, and world tour concerts by top artists, captivating viewers.

“Now is an era when performance directors create ‘works’”, “People who dance well, craft choreography well, and direct stages well” carrying this message, the teaser hints that ‘Seudipa’ is a ‘creative war’ that goes beyond a simple dance showdown. Attention is already turning to the fierce ‘war of works’ that will be waged on the front lines by performance directors who have long worked behind the scenes as the invisible hands behind stages that captivate the world.
Although the concrete lineup has not yet been revealed, fans are abuzz with speculation about the cast based on the fleeting silhouettes of various directors captured in the teaser. Anticipation is mounting over which ‘world-class’ directors will take part to stage an all-gender (All-Gender) battle that breaks the boundaries of gender and genre.
The Mnet production team said, “It is now an era when the world enjoys K-POP performances as independent ‘works’,” and added, “If viewers have already experienced the capabilities of performance directors and the overwhelming scale of stages through the ‘mega crew mission’ in the ‘Street’ series, then this ‘Seudipa’ will be the definitive edition of that ‘directing war’ where such legendary stages unfold every week.” They continued, “As performance directors, who had been supporters behind the stage, now step to the forefront as protagonists, please look forward this August to stage thrills and drama on a different level than anything before.”
