Channel A ‘Heart Signal 5’
With the age and occupation of the ‘unanimous pick’ Kang Yu-kyung from ‘Heart Signal 5’ revealed and a lawyer ‘catfish’ making his entrance, the Signal House was in a stir.
On the April 21 broadcast of Channel A’s ‘Heart Signal 5’, the occupations and ages of the six Signal House residents were revealed.
After finishing their day and gathering at the Signal House, the cast members continued introductions one by one, mentioning their ages and jobs.

Among the women, Kim Min-ju is a 27-year-old digital marketer, and Jung Gyu-ri, who majored in fashion, is a 29-year-old director of a hanbok brand. Among the men, Kim Sung-min was revealed to be a 29-year-old dermatologist; Park Woo-yeol is 25 and works as a marketer; Kim Seo-won is a 25-year-old fashion model.
While curiosity mounted over the job and age of Kang Yu-kyung, the ‘unanimous pick’ who received the first day’s three men’s choices, she turned out to still be a student. Kang said, “I’m a dance major in college. I do Korean dance. I wear hanbok a lot.”
She continued, “I started in 6th grade. A lot of kids were going to a local academy, so I followed along. Then I ended up majoring in it, entered an arts high school, and naturally kept dancing,” adding, “The sense of achievement on stage is huge. The surging emotions feel fascinating. I even took time off school and did a musical. Right now, I’m trying to take on whatever I can,” and revealed that she is 23, born in 2004, which surprised everyone.
Reactions among the cast were split over the unanimous pick’s younger-than-expected age. In particular, Park Woo-yeol, who had shown interest in Yu-kyung, said, “I was very surprised,” revealing it was “a kind of disappointment, if not exactly disappointment,” drawing attention.
Afterward, the appearance of the male ‘catfish’ set the Signal House abuzz. Resembling actor Son Seok-gu, the catfish is a lawyer born in 1994, and his entrance visibly shook the female participants for a moment.
The female cast returned to the Signal House and talked about age. Two of the women were flummoxed, saying, “Two of the male participants are younger than me.” In particular, Gyu-ri said, “I’ve had no connection at all with younger men,” while Min-ju said, “I haven’t dated an older ‘oppa’ before, so I wanted to meet one. I wanted to meet someone who would lead me,” eliciting sympathy. Yu-kyung added, “I’m more comfortable with someone my age or younger. I’m not into men who take the lead.”
Online commenters reacted, saying, “If two are 25, then from someone’s perspective two are younger than themdoesn’t that make the pool too narrow? Seems like they failed the age balance,” “The catfish is 10 years older than Yu-kyung... even if he likes her, it’d be hard to approach,” and “Feels like a rehash of ‘Heart Signal 4’.”
