TV CHOSUN ‘Dad and I Season 3’
Kim Jung-tae’s eldest son, ‘Yakkoongi’ Kim Ji-hoo, who was diagnosed with ‘Asperger syndrome,’ displayed social skills different from before.
TV CHOSUN’s ‘Dad and I Season 3,’ airing on Wednesday the 22nd, captures the daily life of ‘Yakkoongi’s dad’ Kim Jung-tae’s family. Close friends of his younger brother Si-hyeon came over to the home where the eldest son, ‘Yakkoongi’ Kim Ji-hoo, was.
Although friends and family all gathered in the living room, Ji-hoo went into his room alone. Diagnosed with ‘Asperger syndrome,’ Ji-hoo tended to focus on his own interests and showed little interest in others. That is why the couple’s biggest concern was their son’s limited social skills. Even with the whole house buzzing from Si-hyeon and his friends’ visit, Ji-hoo, who is used to being by himself, chose to go to his room. Si-hyeon said it wasn’t surprising, noting, “Rather than playing with friends, he’s closer to the computer, so he plays computer games alone or makes up stories.”
Soon after, seeing Si-hyeon and his friends playing together with dad Kim Jung-tae, Ji-hoo took interest and said, “Should I try too?” Moreover, he gauged the friends’ reactions, asked various questions, and took the lead in conversation as he tried to become closer. After discovering a shared interest in basketball, he excitedly kept the conversation going. Watching the VCR, Jun Hyun-moo remarked, “He’s practically a recreation instructor. Even the way he switches topics is surprising,” expressing amazement at the dramatically improved empathy and social skills. Astonished by Ji-hoo’s change, his younger brother Si-hyeon said, “It’s the first time in months I’ve seen my brother hang out and play with friends. I was taken aback too, but...” Ji-hoo’s transformation will be revealed in the main broadcast.
