tvN ‘You Quiz on the Block’

Singer Seo In-young opened up about having spent all of her 10 billion won in earnings at the height of her career and shared belated self-reflection.

On the 22nd, the official YouTube channel for tvN ‘You Quiz on the Block’ released a pre-release video titled ‘From a bank balance of 10 billion won to zero? Seo In-young's story of reflecting on a past with no sense of money and turning over a new leaf.’

That day on ‘You Quiz,’ Seo In-young appeared as a guest. Yoo Jae-suk asked Seo In-young, who has recently been receiving much love for her YouTube channel ‘Reformed Seo In-young,’ “Did you like the name ‘Reformed’?”

In response, Seo In-young shuddered and said, “Who would like that? Would you like it if it were called ‘Reformed by Yoo Jae-suk’? Anyone would dislike it,” eliciting laughter.

Recalling her heyday in 2008 with ‘Cinderella,’ Seo In-young said, “I was really busy then,” and added, “(since I was earning well) even when I went to buy clothes, I would not even try them on and would literally say, ‘From here to here, please.’”

She said she had entrusted her father with managing her money: “I kept telling Dad we had to pay the card bill and said a lot, ‘Give me my money.’ But one day he said, ‘There is none.’ So I checked the account history and it was really zero. Showing me the ledger, he said, ‘What you earned after taxes was 10 billion won,’ but all that money was gone. When I asked, ‘Where did it go?’ he said, ‘You spent it!’”

She continued, “Back then I really had no concept of money. Dad regretted it, saying, ‘If we had bought a building with this money, it would have been three buildings.’” She added, “I think it would have been better if there had been someone around to hold me back. Oppa (Yoo Jae-suk) did not really stay close to me,” adding to the laughter.

Seo In-young joked, “Why did you not hold me back?” and Yoo Jae-suk, flustered, said, “How was I supposed to hold you back?”
