Actor Jeong I-chan, who took on his first title role as the genius doctor Shin Ju-shin in the TV Chosun weekend miniseries ‘Doctor Shin’, showcased a new side of himself through a magazine pictorial. The magazine ‘Big Issue’ released Jeong I-chan’s photo spread and interview on the 4th.
In the published pictorial, Jeong stood before the camera in a denim-on-denim look, pairing a denim jacket with pants instead of the doctor’s gown he wears in the drama. With a natural vibe and relaxed poses different from his on-screen appearance, he projected a chic allure.

In the interview that followed the photo shoot, Jeong I-chan looked back on the intense ‘Doctor Shin’ audition process and said, “I was so happy”. He added that, even amid his joy, he tried to keep a poker face true to the character.
Regarding the work’s central motif, ‘brain change’, he said, “ ‘Why did he make this choice?’ curiosity arose”. He explained that, to complete the character Shin Ju-shin, he communicated closely with writer Im Seong-han about the long-hair style, manner of greeting, way of speaking, gestures, and more.
Reflecting on what he felt through the project, Jeong said, “While filming, I often reflected on myself, thinking, ‘Have I ever been this obsessed with something?’ I tried to speak in an even tone like Ju-shin and to act with composure at all times”, and, “Thinking about ‘Doctor Shin’ all day, it even appeared in my dreams every night. Keeping this mindset in mind, I resolved to always remain an actor who pours his whole heart into the work,” conveying how deeply immersed he was at the time.
Lastly, he said, “Even if I like just one scene in a film, that film remains a good one to me” and “I want to become an actor who can convey emotions to audiences with nothing more than a look, without having to say anything,” sharing his aspirations for the future.
