The ex-wife of renowned game composer and YouTuber LeeZu(Riju; birth name Lee Jun-young) expressed her grief over the news of his passing.

Lee Jun-young, who broadened his fan base through music for the rhythm game series ‘DJMAX’, was recently reported to have passed away. He was 42. The news of his death became known when fellow musician XeoN wrote on SNS(social networking service), “My friend and the composer of DJMAX that we love, LeeZu, has set off alone on a long journey.”

Ms. A, the deceased’s ex-wife who had co-produced ‘A Seoul Couple’s Return-to-the-Country Diary’ with him until three years ago, conveyed her sorrow during a live broadcast on her channel on the 4th, revealing that she had brought in the deceased’s pet dog.

She said, “(The dog’s) father has passed away. He passed away five days ago. For Bomi(the dog’s name), if a situation arose where she could not be kept, I intended to bring her. I was contacted the day before yesterday, and since I did not have time yesterday, I brought her today.”

Regarding Lee Jun-young’s death, his ex-wife said, “It seems his depression was severe. Because he could not endure it himself, that must have been why. No matter how much I try to speculate, I cannot know,” and added, “It still does not feel real. We divorced because I resented him, but we nevertheless spent 20 yearsour twenties and thirtiestogether, so I also feel a sudden sense of emptiness,” choking up.

She also recounted that she had received contact the day before the date presumed to be his death. Ms. A said, “A message came saying that he was in very poor condition and, in case something happened to him, asking me to take care of Bomi,” and, “I told him to get in touch if his condition worsened and that I would take her, but that day he left like that. Perhaps hearing that I would take Bomi gave him some peace of mind,” she said, in tears.

The deceased worked as a musician, including band activities, then after marriage moved to Buyeo, South Chungcheong Province, and became known through a YouTube channel. However, in January 2023 he announced his divorce, and thereafter launched the ‘Wandering Unemployed’ channel, sharing content about domestic and overseas travel and life with his dog.

On the 25th of last month, he posted on his channel the words “Now, goodbye to everyone” along with a song titled “Goodbye,” which he personally wrote, composed, arranged, sang, performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered. That song became his last. He conveyed the message, “Thank you, everyone, and I am sorry.”
