Lee Chan-hyuk of AKMU opened up about feeling empty after finishing work on the new album.
On the 5th, on his Instagram, he wrote, “After letting go of the projects I had been holding onto for a long time, my heart has felt empty for weeks,” and shared a lengthy post along with several photos.
He shared candid thoughts on his work, saying, “At the moment when what used to be mine becomes shared by all, it even feels as if something is being taken away,” and continued, “Even after it leaves my hands and takes flight, I go that far for the things only I can have.” He added, “I am relieved that the album has reached many people. Lee Su-hyun, that is a relief. I am relieved. I am relieved for you as well. Long live the Republic of Korea. Long live us.”

In the released photos, Lee Chan-hyuk, wearing sunglasses, exudes a free-spirited vibe. His naturally grown beard, wavy hair, and seemingly unstyled look conveyed his signature hip sensibility, drawing attention. On the post, his younger sister Lee Su-hyun left the comment “What a relief,” adding warmth.

Earlier, AKMU appeared last month on the tvN variety show ‘You Quiz on the Block’ and shared the story behind their comeback. At the time, Lee Su-hyun confessed that she had lived in seclusion due to a slump, saying, “My brother told me, ‘Saying that you are okay seems the most dangerous,’” and added, “I thought that if I could live as before, I had to hold on to my brother,” moving viewers.

In response, Lee Chan-hyuk said, “Looking 10 or 20 years ahead, I felt I would regret it if I did not look after Su-hyun now,” and, “I wanted to help Su-hyun bloom,” revealing their sibling bond.
Meanwhile, on the 7th of last month, AKMU released their first full-length album in about seven years, ‘Gaehwa’. The album includes 11 tracks in total, all of which were written and composed by Lee Chan-hyuk, further deepening their musical color.
