ENA ‘Scarecrow’
Not a hair is out of place.
Actor Yoo Seung-mok captured attention with a powerful presence.
The ENA Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Scarecrow’ (directed by Park Joon-woo, written by Lee Ji-hyun, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by Studio Anzailen) tells the story of a detective who, while chasing the real culprit behind a serial murder case, ends up engaging in an unexpected collaboration with a person he despised.
The role played by Yoo Seung-mok, ‘Cha Mu-jin’, is the father of prosecutor Cha Si-young (played by Lee Hee-joon), who is investigating the Gangseong serial murder case, and he is a prominent politician with a military background. Previously, following a secret tryst with the mother of Kang Tae-joo, the true identity of the once-enigmatic Cha Mu-jin began to be revealed in earnest, drawing attention from viewers.
He conveyed a chilling charisma in scenes where he treated Si-young with stern discipline during childhood, and, as a politician ahead of an election, he hurried to arrange a marriage between his son Si-young and the daughter of a tycoon, densely portraying the narrative of a character brimming with ambition.
Yoo Seung-mok also drew attention by perfectly recreating the look of that era. His neatly slicked-back pomade hair, with not a strand out of place, further highlighted his authoritative side, and his characteristically weighty delivery projected an aura that heightened immersion.
As ‘Scarecrow’ continues its rise with unpredictable developments and solid storytelling, curiosity is growing about what role Cha Mu-jin will play next, and expectations are also gathering for acclaimed actor Yoo Seung-mok and the ‘immersion-inducing’ performance he will unveil.
Meanwhile, the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Scarecrow’ airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. and is also available via KT Genie TV and Tving.
