Global actor Ahn Hyo-seop and multi-platinum artist Khalid come together for a new global single, ‘Something Special’.
Set for release on the 22nd, ‘Something Special’ is a global collaboration project that blends K-pop and U.S. R&B sensibilities. A pre-save (advance save) is currently underway on major global music platforms.
Recently, Ahn Hyo-seop expanded into Hollywood animation voice acting, drawing worldwide attention by unveiling a new character narrative as ‘Jinu’, leader of the Saja Boys, in the Netflix animated film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’. Following his attendance at the Academy Awards and the Met Gala, he has continued to broaden his presence on the global stage, consistently taking on new storytelling that transcends the boundaries of genre, platform, and language.
With the SBS drama ‘We Worked Hard Today’ currently airing, this single project likewise represents a meaningful challenge that expands new possibilities through a global collaboration that crosses cultural and genre boundaries, and it is expected to be a special gift to fans around the world who have sent their warm love and support.
Through this project, Khalid is also presenting his first official single collaboration with a Korean artist. Khalid, a leading R&B artist loved for global hits such as ‘Location’, ‘Talk’, and ‘Better’, took part in this track with his distinctive emotive vocals and global influence.
This project was carried out through a collaboration between the domestic music platform Musicow and the global entertainment company Roc Nation. Roc Nation, which has worked with world-class artists such as Rihanna, Shakira, J. Cole, and Megan Thee Stallion, was founded by JAY-Z.
The single was mainly produced by Lee Woo-seok ‘RAINSTONE’, known for his work on Wonder Girls’ hit ‘Nobody’, with Grammy-winning producer Troy ‘R8DIO’ Johnson, who participated in Solange’s album ‘A Seat at the Table’, joining as co-producer.
‘Something Special’ is expected to showcase new synergy in the global music market through a collaboration that crosses borders and genres. It will be released worldwide simultaneously on May 22.
