Actor Um Tae-goo confessed that he visited JYP Entertainment to practice rap.
The production briefing for the comedy film “Wild Thing” (produced by About Film) was held on the morning of the 7th at the Lotte Cinema Konkuk Univ. branch in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Present were director Son Jae-gon, who directed the film, along with lead actors Kang Dong-won, Um Tae-goo, Park Ji-hyun, and Oh Jung-se.
At the event, Um Tae-goo said, “I went to a JYP Entertainment booth to practice rap diligently,” and added, “Since it was a private booth, I didn’t see other idols practicing.”
“Wild Thing” is a wild comedy that portrays the process by which the three-member co-ed dance group “Triangle,” which once swept the music scene but disbanded due to an unexpected incident, returns to the stage for a comeback after more than 20 years. Kang Dong-won, Um Tae-goo, and Park Ji-hyun play the Triangle members, while Oh Jung-se appears as a ballad singer, heralding a “bold transformation.”
Kang Dong-won transforms into Hwang Hyun-woo, the leader of Triangle and a once high-flying idol dubbed a “dance machine.” Um Tae-goo plays Gu Sang-gu, the youngest “storm rapper” brimming with passion despite his poor rap skills, and Park Ji-hyun portrays Byun Do-mi, the center with absolute charm. Oh Jung-se takes on Sung Gon, an ill-fated balladeer who long remained in second place behind Triangle, delivering comic acting.
At the helm is director Son, who debuted in 2006 with “A Sweet, Savage Lover” and later directed “I Won’t Harm You” (2020). This “Wild Thing” marks his return after about six years.
“Wild Thing” has a running time of 107 minutes and is rated for ages 12 and up. Lotte Entertainment is distributing the film, which opens on June 3.
