Actor Lee Se-hee said she analyzed interviews of real actresses to prepare for a top-star character.
On the afternoon of the 7th, at the SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, a production presentation was held for SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Brave New World’ (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seob and Kim Hyun-woo). Director Han Tae-seob and actors Lim Ji-yeon, Heo Nam-jun, Jang Seung-jo, Kim Min-seok, and Lee Se-hee attended.
‘Brave New World’ is a work that depicts a ‘love-hate romance’ unfolding as the Joseon-era villain Kang Dan-sim (played by Lim Ji-yeon) falls into the present day and becomes entangled with the vicious chaebol Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun). In the drama, Lee Se-hee plays Yoon Ji-hyo, a top star who possesses both dazzling popularity and influence.
Regarding her preparation for the role, she said, “As Ji-yeon would know well, I have never lived as a top star,” and “Over the past 10 years, I searched widely for interviews with actresses labeled top stars. I also studied aspects such as their laughter and breathing during interviews.”
Speaking about Yoon Ji-hyo, who forms a rivalry with Shin Se-ri in the drama, she explained, “With Ji-yeon, we built our chemistry on set; there was little prior coordination,” and “Even in the audition scene, we went in staring each other down, and that moment was used in the highlight video. It was not in the script, but it came together naturally on set.”
She went on to say, “It was my first time expressing irritation and anger in every scene,” and added, “Yoon Ji-hyo is a character with an ambivalent appeal who hides her tender core to protect herself.”
Meanwhile, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Brave New World’ portrays an unpredictable romance as the Joseon-era villain Kang Dan-sim, who died after taking poison, falls into the present and becomes entangled with figures symbolizing modern desires, such as the capitalist monster Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun) and the ambitious man Choi Mun-do (Jang Seung-jo). It will premiere at 9:50 p.m. on the 9th.
