Actor Cha Chung-hwa is returning to stage acting through a musical.
Management Siseon, Cha Chung-hwa’s agency, said on the 7th, “Cha Chung-hwa will play Chun-sim in the musical ‘Outrageously Fun Gals’, which is set for its first performance on the 15th.” The agency also released images featuring behind-the-scenes cuts from the shoot.

The musical ‘Outrageously Fun Gals’ is based on the documentary film ‘Chilgok Gals’ and the essay ‘Outrageously Fun Aging’, and brings to the stage the true story of grandmothers who, in their eighties, began writing poetry to learn the Korean alphabet.
Cha Chung-hwa takes on the role of Chun-sim, who cannot let go of her dream of becoming a singer and enters a singing contest, and she is expected to offer audiences nostalgia and emotion.

In the released photos, Cha Chung-hwa traces Chun-sim’s time from her school-uniform days, to her younger years with sunglasses perched on her head, and also presents a different look in elderly makeup.
On set that day, Cha Chung-hwa led the staff in a consistently warm, friendly manner, showing her professionalism. Furthermore, in sync with the sound of the camera shutter, she delicately conveyed both the flutter of a shy girl and the composure of a woman who has weathered many ups and downs, drawing admiration from the staff.

The musical ‘Outrageously Fun Gals’ starring Cha Chung-hwa will run from the 15th to the 28th of next month at Haneul Theater at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul.
