Wavve
Shocking from the outset.
Wavve will exclusively unveil the expanded edition of the original documentary ‘Cult Hunter’ on the 19th (Tue).
‘Cult Hunter’ tells the story of three sons who track the murder of Director Tak Myung-hwan, a scholar of cults, and those behind it. Director Tak of ‘Modern Religion’ spent his life confronting heresies, exposing the wrongdoing of groups such as JMS, Shincheonji, Yeongsaenggyo, the Unification Church, and the Salvation Sect, earning the nickname ‘heresy hunter’. He is also well known as the real-life inspiration for the character Pastor Park in the film ‘Svaha’, starring Lee Jung-jae and directed by Jang Jae-hyun.
This documentary re-examines, after 32 years, the truth behind the murder of Director Tak, the first ‘cult hunter’ in South Korea. In particular, Wavve will be the first to present an expanded edition containing deeper material that had not been released before, raising expectations.

Alongside this, an official poster and teaser that offer a preview of ‘Cult Hunter’ have been released, further heightening anticipation for the main feature. The poster catches the eye with an image of Director Tak Myung-hwan in his lifetime as he pursued the reality of heresies, accompanied by the phrase ‘We will track the truth of that day again’. In the teaser, Tak's three sons say about the mysterious death of their father, “We believed, again and again, that it would be brought to light someday,” followed by, “Someone said they would help reveal the truth related to our father's death; this is a story worthy of making a feature-length film,” depicting their renewed pursuit of the case after 32 years. During this process, testimony appears stating, “Three people jumped down to the rear, and two cars were mobilized on the day of the incident,” along with the line ‘Who killed the cult hunter, and why’, delivering a powerful jolt from the very start.
Meanwhile, following ‘Read’, a commentary program that analyzes criminal psychology by reading handwritten letters from those involved in real cases that once made headlines, Wavve continues to strengthen its current affairs and culture lineup with the new original documentary ‘Cult Hunter’, offering viewers a broader range of choices. The expanded edition of ‘Cult Hunter’ will be available first on Wavve on the 19th (Tue).
