Actor Kim Byung-ok transforms into a legendary gangster, radiating a weighty presence.

Kim Byung-ok will appear in the MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifties Professionals(Fifties Professionals)’, which premieres at 9:50 p.m. on Friday the 22nd.

In ‘Fifties Professionals’, Kim Byung-ok takes on the role of Hwang Hwasan, a legendary mobster and head of the Hwasan faction. Hwang Hwasan once ruled the nation with his fists, but after becoming entangled in unexpected betrayal and intrigue, he ends up imprisoned and dreams of a comeback.

In the drama, Kim Byung-ok inhabits Hwang Hwasan and is set to work closely with Kang Beom-ryong, the No. 2 of the Hwasan faction (played by Heo Sung-tae), and member Ma Gong-bok (played by Lee Hak-joo).

Since debuting with the play ‘King Lear’ in 1989, Kim Byung-ok has showcased charismatic, bold performances in films such as ‘Oldboy’, ‘Sunflower’, and ‘New World’, imprinting himself as a ‘top-tier villain’ actor.

Beyond the dramas ‘Confession Couple’, ‘What's Wrong with Secretary Kim’, and ‘Suspicious Her’, he has also been active across various OTT platform projects, including the Netflix series ‘Queenmaker’ and the Disney+ title ‘Gangnam B-Side’, demonstrating solid acting skills without genre limits. This amplifies curiosity about what he will show in ‘Fifties Professionals’.

‘Fifties Professionals’, featuring Kim Byung-ok, tells the story of three men who appear ordinary but once made a name for themselves as they become entangled with fate again. Though battered by the world and rusty in body, their loyalty and instincts remain alive; it is a gritty, bittersweet action comedy about true professionals halfway through life. The first episode airs on MBC at 9:50 p.m. on the 22nd.
