HYBE, the agency of the girl group ILLIT, lost a case against a YouTube channel that disparaged an affiliated artist.

According to Yonhap News on the 8th, Judge Kim Gwan-Jung of the 12th Civil Division of the Seoul Western District Court that afternoon dismissed the claim by the plaintiff in the damages suit that HYBE and others filed against a YouTuber. He also ordered that HYBE and the other plaintiffs bear the full litigation costs.

In 2024, HYBE filed damages suits totaling $210,000 (280,000,000 KRW) against seven YouTube channels, asserting that some YouTubers continually spread false information about its affiliated girl group.

ILLIT members and Belift Lab, the HYBE label to which ILLIT belongs, also filed damages claims.

The channel carried posts alleging that ILLIT plagiarized a particular artist, claiming that a member mentioned a particular food to disparage a particular artist, and asserting that HYBE and affiliated artists such as LE SSERAFIM·ILLIT were linked to a cult.
