On ‘New Release Pyeonstaurant’, Kim Yong-bin emerges as a top contender to win on his first attempt.
On KBS 2TV ‘New Release Pyeonstaurant’ (hereafter ‘Pyeonstaurant’), airing Friday the 8th, the results of a menu battle themed around ‘tang’ will be revealed. Attention is on which of the following three will seize the glory of victory and product release, and with which tang dish: Moon Jung-hee, the direct-from-the-source ‘Moon Gil-dong’ who completes delicious dishes thanks to an unusual obsession with ingredients; Yano Shiho, the nation’s foreign daughter-in-law who loves Korean cuisine; and rookie Pyeon-chef Kim Yong-bin, unmatched in confidence.
During a recent studio recording of ‘Pyeonstaurant’, MC Boom, serving as the manager, cried out “Urgent notice” and drew attention by saying, “Starting today, we will choose the winner in a new way.” Among the changes, what stood out was that it would be fully disclosed which members of the menu evaluation panel chose which menu. Ahead of the first menu evaluation, the visibly tense Kim Yong-bin quipped, “Why did they have to change it now of all times?” betraying his nerves and eliciting laughter.
Then the ‘tang menus’ ambitiously prepared by the three Pyeon-chefsMoon Jung-hee, Yano Shiho, and Kim Yong-binwere unveiled. Moon Jung-hee presented as her final menu the nourishing ‘Perilla Chicken Gomtang’, which even her master-cook mother tasted and was pleasantly surprised by. Yano Shiho offered as her final menu the ‘Cashew Nut Samgyetang’ that even renowned gourmet Jang Yoon-jung admired. Kim Yong-bin brought as his final menu the ‘Daechang Chicken Dakbokkeumtang’, adding a special kick to his grandmother’s recipe.
With the evaluation method changed, the three nervous Pyeon-chefs called for victory more earnestly than ever. Rookie Pyeon-chef Kim Yong-bin declared with confidence, “Whenever I do something, I have to take first place to feel satisfied. I came to take first place.” Yano Shiho actively appealed to the menu evaluation panel to pick her, especially pressing Jung Sang-hoona same-age friend she met for the first time on this ‘Pyeonstaurant’ and a ‘Year of the Dragon’ peerby saying, “I trust my friend,” drawing laughs. Will Jung Sang-hoon side with his friend who is aiming for the win?
