KBS2 miniseries ‘Simu-myeon Yeonliri’

In the drama, Park Sung-woong, with help from Lee Seo-hwan, tracks the hidden truth of the company he has served all his life.

Park Sung-woong stands at a crossroads in life. In episode 7 of the KBS2 miniseries ‘Simu-myeon Yeonliri’ (directed by Choi Yeon-su / written by Song Jeong-rim, Wang Hye-ji / produced by Sim Story), which aired on the 7th, the unsettled reactions of Seong Tae-hoon (played by Park Sung-woong) and the villagers after Director Choi (played by Min Seong-uk) visited Yeonliri were portrayed with interest.

On the broadcast, Seong Tae-hoon was shocked by inspection results for cabbage seedlings that all came back as ‘unsuitable’. In the end, unable to trust the results, he decided to test the cabbages himself to grasp the hidden intentions of ‘Mat Story’, the company where he had spent his life.

After conducting retests using cabbages from village head Im Ju-hyung (played by Lee Seo-hwan), Seong Tae-hoon began to suspect No Hyeon-gap (played by Jeong Seon-cheol), a ‘Mat Story’ caretaker. Seong Tae-hoon asked Im Ju-hyung about the past between ‘Mat Story’ and Yeonliri, and learned new information that No Hyeon-gap had belonged to the Yeonliri branch.

As time went by, Seong Tae-hoon grew increasingly conflicted. Watching him, No Hyeon-gap offered an unsettling remark, saying, “Please sign the documents sent down from the company. Losing your way takes only a moment”. Although No Hyeon-gap is not currently a ‘Mat Story’ employee, it left questions about what connection he has with Director Choi.

Meanwhile, Jo Mi-ryeo (played by Lee Soo-kyung) was relieved to learn that her son Seong Ji-cheon (played by Lee Jin-woo) had not definitively withdrawn from medical school and that there was still a chance to reverse it. Forcing a bright smile, Jo Mi-ryeo persuaded Seong Ji-cheon to head to Seoul, believing that the environment called ‘Yeonliri’ was the source of his wandering. However, Seong Ji-cheon, who had lived his entire life doing as his parents told him, delivered a letter conveying his true feelings, deepening home viewers’ sorrow over the conflict between mother and son in the Seong household.

Im Bo-mi (played by Choi Gyu-ri) tried to understand the reasons behind Seong Ji-cheon growing out of touch, yet she showed hurt at the way he pushed her away. Eventually, upon hearing from Nam Hye-seon (played by Nam Gwon-a) that Seong Ji-cheon would go to Seoul, Im Bo-mi could not hide her bitter feelings. As Seong Ji-cheon headed to school, attention also turned to the two and their seemingly crossed paths.

Jo Mi-ryeo wanted to follow after Seong Ji-cheon, who had gone up to Seoul alone, out of concern, but Seong Tae-hoon firmly stopped her, saying, “Jicheon will make a good choice. Let us trust him and wait. I am the father of our children too, and you cannot keep clinging to a grown child forever”. The couple’s realistic conversation about parenting resonated with viewers.

At the end of the broadcast, Seong Tae-hoon visited the office of Executive Director Bae (played by Bae Gi-beom), heightening the tension. After receiving a significant proposal from Executive Director Bae, Seong Tae-hoon asked, “A way that saves the village and also saves my family, can you personally prove that, sir” and fell into deep thought. Attention is now focused on whether he will return to headquarters and restore everyday life with his family, or remain in Yeonliri.

Episode 8 of the KBS2 miniseries ‘Simu-myeon Yeonliri’ will be unveiled to home viewers at 9:50 p.m. on the 14th.
