‘Hiphopplaya Festival 2026’
‘Hiphopplaya Festival 2026’ expanded its role beyond a music festival into a cultural platform and concluded successfully.
The largest hip-hop festival in the country, representing Korea's hip-hop scene, ‘Hiphopplaya Festival 2026’ staged an overwhelming artist lineup and, with differentiated special stages, first previews of unreleased tracks, and announcements of label signings and renewals, generated wide buzz as it unfolded to an enthusiastic reception from more than 25,000 attendees.
Held on May 2 at KINTEX in Ilsan, ‘Hiphopplaya Festival 2026’ (hereafter Hiphopplaya 2026) proved the intense anticipation by selling out about two weeks before the event. Including 4,000 foreign attendees, on-site turnout reached roughly 25,000, and the TikTok Live global broadcast recorded a cumulative 1.2 million viewers, cementing its status as a defining hip-hop event of the year.
Hiphopplaya 2026 unfolded around two large stages, ‘Stage 9’ and ‘Stage 10’, with leading Korean hip-hop and R&B artists including Jay Park x LNGSHOT, E SENS, KC, Lil Moshpit & Friends, VVD, H1GHR MUSIC, and Indigo Music, creating emblematic moments for the Korean hip-hop scene that went beyond a standard festival show.

This year, the festival moved away from short, individual artist slots and foregrounded dense, project-style showcases at the label and crew level, delivering immersion that set it apart from conventional festivals. Rather than a simple lineup of acts, the ‘project-style stage’ format, which presented a complete performance narrative and the identity of each team in full, functioned as a key differentiator unique to this edition.
At the center was the VVD (Vivid) crew (Crush, Zion.T, Loco, Gray, Elo), reuniting on an official stage for the first time in 12 years. They delivered a solo concert-level project set of about 120 minutes, creating one of this Hiphopplaya's signature moments.
Well before the show, VVD heightened fan expectations by previewing ensemble rehearsal videos, launching an official social media account, and hinting at new music. On the day, they rolled out era-defining tracks in succession, including ‘Yanghwa Daegyo’, ‘Ssiseuru’, ‘Nama Isseo’, ‘Ijeobeorijima’, ‘OSAKA’, and ‘Click Me’, then for the first time unveiled VVD versions of ‘Sicha’ and ‘119 REMIX’, pushing the on-site fervor to a peak.
Working with the festival stage team, they recreated onstage the Hongdae rooftop room where they first gathered in 2011, turning the venue into a narrative space. Live performances by the members, video, and set direction meshed organically, giving the audience a deep sense of immersion as if experiencing a film in real time.

Producer Lil Moshpit, a double winner at the 2026 Korean Music Awards and a four-time winner at the Korean Hip-Hop Awards who now stands at the center of the Korean hip-hop sound, also delivered one of the festival's marquee sets. Curated directly by Lil Moshpit, the showcase opened with a DJ performance staged as silhouettes behind a curtain that covered the entire set, and truly kicked off with the appearance of ‘icebluerabbit’, the alter ego of Jeon Soyeon of i-dle (aideul).
Zene the Zilla, The Quiett, Gemini, Yuju, EK, Blase, Pullup22, Treibi, Okashi, Uneducated Kid, Kid Milli, NowIamYoung, and many more then appeared in succession, sustaining a no-letup, roughly 50-minute run. In the finale, an unreleased track hinting at a forthcoming collaborative album with Sik-K was unveiled for the first time, drawing roars from the crowd.
A special stage led by Sik-K under the banner ‘KC (Sik-K, Kim Haon, JMIN, NowIamYoung)’ was also counted among the core moments of this Hiphopplaya. Kim Haon and NowIamYoung, who took winner and runner-up on ‘Show Me the Money 12’, performed representative tracks from the program to huge cheers, and surprise appearances by top Japanese rappers such as JP THE WAVY and ¥ellow Bucks completed a large-scale stage with a global mood.
‘LOVE’, which won Hip-Hop Track of the Year at this year's Korean Hip-Hop Awards and Korean Music Awards, received an overwhelming response, with five encore calls, and a massive mosh pit of thousands formed, creating a spectacle rarely seen at domestic festivals.
H1GHR MUSIC (pH-1, Big Naughty, Lil Boi, Woodie Gochild), which recently stirred hot buzz with the compilation album [PURPLE TAPE], presented its first official stage since the album release at Hiphopplaya, instantly elevating the on-site atmosphere. They performed album tracks ‘GAGA’, ‘WARM UP FREESTYLE’, and ‘FOCKIT’, followed by ‘The Purge’ and ‘FASHO’, which evoked H1GHR MUSIC's heyday, once again imprinting the label's cross-generational presence.

Jay Park, who closed out Hiphopplaya, performed a joint set of about 80 minutes with the rookie group he produced, Longshot (LNGSHOT), and, through the organic interplay between producer and artist, brought the festival to a symbolic close. Starting with Longshot's solo segment, the atmosphere surged the moment Jay Park appeared, and a medley of Jay Park hits, multiple unreleased tracks, and special performances followed, eliciting explosive cheers.
Longshot proved itself to be one of the fastest-rising teams, delivering stable live vocals and high-caliber performance belying only a year since debut. In the latter part of the show, a ‘The Purge’ collaboration featuring the full roster of H1GHR MUSIC artists and an unreleased track with E SENS were unveiled for the first time, completing the defining finale scene of this year's Hiphopplaya.
Beyond performances, a series of surprise announcements further amplified the on-site buzz. Indigo Music's NO:EL and Kim Sang-min, whom one could even call a legend, announced a five-year contract renewal on site, and the new label POV led by Kid Milli revealed the addition of Okashi members. Alongside this, exclusive stages only seen at Hiphopplaya were unveiled one after another, including the announcement of Lil Moshpit x Sik-K collaborative album PART 2, the first reveal of an unreleased Jay Park x E SENS track, and Longshot's ‘PUBLIC ENEMY’ remix stage, drawing heated reactions from the audience.
Hiphopplaya also offered another dimension of enjoyment through a ‘Culture Zone’ where culture could be directly experienced. Street brands such as BAPE, Paco Supply, Champion, and Kimssinegwail participated, presenting limited-edition merchandise, artist-collaboration MD, exhibitions, and signing events, giving attendees time to experience not only music but also fashion and street culture together.

This marked the first official collaboration between a domestic festival and BAPE, drawing major attention even before the event as a symbolic meeting of hip-hop and streetwear. In particular, the BAPE x Hiphopplaya lookbook featuring Yang Hong-won as the sole model went viral online immediately upon release and became a hot topic.
The synergy between Yang Hong-won's unique vibe and the collaboration design gave the content strong visibility and built high expectations even before release. On the festival day, the BAPE booth in the Culture Zone became a key spot constantly visited by attendees, artists, and industry figures, functioning as a space that symbolically expressed this Hiphopplaya's identity at the intersection of music, fashion, and street culture.
Limited-edition collaboration products created through brand-artist tie-ups such as Champion × VVD, Paco Supply × Okashi, and Kimssinegwail × Indigo Music drew such a hot response that long queues formed right after the gates opened. In addition to artist signings for product purchasers, artists themselves visited booths to interact naturally with fans, turning the entire Culture Zone into another massive fan-experience space.
With participation from a range of online magazines and media including Eyesmag, Daily Fashion News, Fastpaper, and Billboard Korea, this Hiphopplaya vividly conveyed the festival atmosphere online to those who could not attend due to the sellout. Interviews and stage clips filmed on site, along with Culture Zone and Food Zone content, spread rapidly on social media and communities, sustaining high buzz even after the festival.

In the separately prepared ‘Artist Lounge’, domestic and overseas artists and industry figures gathered in one place to mingle and network naturally, once again showing that Hiphopplaya serves not only as a concert but as a key platform connecting Korean hip-hop culture and an important hub for the industry.
At Hiphopplaya 2026, not only the artists on stage but also the styles and vibe of attendees on site were spotlighted as another core content pillar.
With celebrities, influencers, artists, and creators in large attendance, festival looks reflecting individual personalities and tastes filled every corner of the venue, and the KINTEX area unfolded like a vast street-culture scene for a day.
Bringing together generations from teens to those in their forties and beyond, this Hiphopplaya established itself as a festival that most vividly shows the present of Korean hip-hop culture, where music, fashion, lifestyle, and community are connected as one, and once again proved its standing as the country's representative hip-hop festival through its ever-growing scale and unrivaled buzz year after year.
