Korea Music Label Industry Association Kindie Lounge
Kindie Lounge, operated by the Korea Music Label Industry Association, introduced in May a selection of performances, each with a distinct concept and narrative.
From May 15 to 17 at Yeonnamjang, a multi-purpose cultural space in Mapo-gu, Seoul, the concert ‘Go Young-bae Mild Dopamine Addiction Treatment Concert, Hedgehog-con’, planned by Go Young-bae, vocalist of the band Soran, will be held. The show follows a ‘dopamine detox’ concept, encouraging audiences to step away from the fast, intense stimulation of everyday modern life and to gently reawaken their senses, at least while inside the venue. Cheering and the use of electronic devices will be restricted, and detailed elements reflecting the concept will be added throughout, such as providing a dopamine detox beverage and a notebook and pen set to the audience.
On May 16 at Strange Fruit in Seoul, the Ruby Records band Redemptions will stage a solo performance, ‘The Redemption Show Vol.5’. This show follows their recently released second EP, ‘small talk with a ghost’, and will render the emotions and narratives contained in the new record with greater density in a live setting. Redemptions has recently embarked on its first Japan tour while also performing live every week, actively expanding its presence with a powerful band sound and immersive live performances.
Over two days, May 16 and 17, at Vel.r in Hongdae, Mapo-gu, Seoul (formerly Veloju), singer-songwriter Gureum will hold a solo performance, ‘What If’. Breaking away from the typical solo show format built around a personal discography, it will newly spotlight a musical world as producer and composer. Gureum is currently active with the Mound Media label Tapes.
From May 23 to 25 at the Ticketlink 1975 Theater in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, a solo concert by singer-songwriter Hong Isak, ‘Sway’, will be held. It will feature a full-band live set including new songs from the EP released in April, ‘Castle In The Air’, and attendees will also be able to hear new tracks that were first unveiled at festivals and live stages. Hong Isak, an artist under Archive Achim, continues to earn steady support on the strength of delicate sensibility and solid live performance.
In addition to the shows introduced here, Kindie Lounge continues to share diverse indie performances and artist news through its official website and social media channels. It also plans to continue presenting the flow of the domestic indie scene and diverse musical stories from artists through the indie music magazine ‘Kindie Magazine’ and ‘Channel Kindie’, which features live clips, interviews, and festival coverage.
