“Shall we stop thinking and dance?”
Curiosity is growing about the theme of the girl group Le Sserafim (LE SSERAFIM)’s title track from their second studio album. They are also maximizing the upbeat atmosphere with an easy-to-follow point choreography.
Le Sserafim (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) heightened expectations for their comeback by revealing part of the title track ‘BOOMPALA’ from their second studio album. They also released on their YouTube channel the title-track teaser video ‘Just BOOMPALA’ for their second studio album ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1’.
The video opens with a two-shot of Kim Chaewon and Huh Yunjin. As in the music video for the lead single ‘CELEBRATION’ released on the 24th of last month, the two bear distinguishing features unlike ordinary people, such as green skin and pointed hands. When Huh Yunjin confides, “I have too many thoughts. Do you know how to stop thinking?”, Kim Chaewon, as if it were nothing difficult, says, “Stop,” and suggests that they dance.
The scene then switches in an instant, and a snippet of the title track ‘BOOMPALA’ begins to play. Le Sserafim dance alongside beings of unusual appearance. The repeated ‘Boompala’ section, like a chant, lodges itself in your head, signaling strong addictiveness already. The lyric ‘You can’t hold on to the clouds in the air’ (a line suggesting that one cannot hold on to drifting clouds) ties in with Huh Yunjin’s earlier confession and leaves the impression of letting complex thoughts and feelings flow away.
The performance of ‘BOOMPALA’ also draws attention. The five members repeatedly move their arms and legs from side to side, maximizing the song’s lively mood. Intuitive moves that anyone can easily follow add to the fun of watching. Notably, the video ends with Huh Yunjin meditating, heightening curiosity about the title track’s theme. Le Sserafim’s second studio album ‘‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1’ will be released at 1 p.m. on the 22nd. It captures the changes and growth that occurred as the five members, who shouted ‘FEARLESS’ at debut, came to know fear.
Le Sserafim released the lead single ‘CELEBRATION’ on April 24. The song was used as the background music for the new Google Doodle campaign animation that Google prepared for May’s ‘Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month.’ It also drew major attention after being featured in NBA game highlight videos by ESPN, the largest sports media outlet in the United States.
