Ok Taec-yeon of 2PM will take the stage at Tokyo Dome just fifteen days after his wedding.
On the 9th and 10th, 2PM will hold a concert at Tokyo Dome in Japan to mark the 15th anniversary of their Japan debut, ‘2PM Japan 15th Anniversary Concert THE RETURN in TOKYO DOME’. It will be their first full-group Tokyo Dome performance in ten years since 2016. The show on the 10th will be streamed live exclusively by the Japanese video platform TELASA, and no archive will be provided.
On the 24th of last month, Ok Taec-yeon held a private wedding in Seoul with his non-celebrity girlfriend, who is four years younger. They are longtime partners who made their relationship public in 2020. All the 2PM members attended the wedding to celebrate with them.
Two days after the wedding, on the 26th, Ok Taec-yeon posted a poster for the film ‘Salmokji’, starring his colleague Kim Hye-yoon, on his social networking service (SNS), leaving the message “I cannot watch scary things. I will watch while crying.” Kim Hye-yoon is a colleague who worked with Ok Taec-yeon in the 2021 drama ‘Eosa and Joy’. It was a choice to prepare for the Tokyo Dome concert and to cheer on a colleague instead of going on a honeymoon.
Having handled his wedding and the Tokyo Dome concert 15 days apart, Ok Taec-yeon will move straight on to his next project. On May 14, the Japanese Netflix original series ‘Soulmate’ will be released. In the series, Ok Taec-yeon plays the Korean boxer ‘Yohan’, working with Japanese actor Isomura Hayato. It tells the story of two people who share their wounds and save each other, and it is also drawing attention as his first attempt at a queer role.
When announcing his marriage, Ok Taec-yeon promised, “I will continue, without change, to do my best to repay the love and trust you have given, as a member of 2PM, as an actor, and as your Taec-yeon.” By pushing ahead with his wedding, a full-group comeback, and the release of a leading role on a global OTT platform all within May, it can be read as a determination to maintain his identity not as a ‘newlywed’ but as an ‘active idol·actor’.
