Actor Kim Shin-rok won the acting award in the theater category at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards.

Actor Kim Shin-rok clinched the acting award for the play ‘Prima Facie’, becoming a two-time Baeksang winner.

At the ‘62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci’, held on the 8th at COEX D Hall in Seoul, Kim Shin-rok earned the honor of winning the acting award in the theater category for the play ‘Prima Facie’. This marks her second Baeksang trophy, following her Best Supporting Actress award in the TV category for the Netflix series ‘Hellbound’.

The play ‘Prima Facie’ is a one-woman show that demands an enormous volume of lines and explosive energy, and Kim Shin-rok showcased meticulous character analysis and commanding stage presence. Lauded by critics as ”the performance of the year“, she proved that her rigorous disciplinereturning to the stage every year even after expanding into screen workhas never been in vain.

On stage to accept the award, Kim Shin-rok said, “It is an honor to be part of the Korean premiere of such a meaningful work, and I am so happy to receive this great award thanks to it. The character I played, ‘Tessa’, is someone who bravely survives to the end even amid the pain of seeing the world she trusted collapse. I think it is thanks to that courage that I am standing here now,” delivering heartfelt remarks that conveyed deep affection for the work and character and moving the audience.

She continued, “I will share this honor with actors Lee Ja-ram and Cha Ji-yeon, the production and directing teams who created and contemplated Tessa with me, and all theater people and audience members who struggle to find performances suited to this era,” expressing sincere thanks and revealing fervent passion and authenticity for the pure arts. She closed by thanking her family and calling out her mother’s name, adding the witty line, “Thanks to my mom giving birth to me, I get to have this much fun in life,” which filled the ceremony with cheerful smiles.

Kim Shin-rok is enjoying a hotter-than-ever ‘career high’. Her starring film ‘Gunche’ was invited to the 79th Cannes Film Festival, drawing global attention, and with this Baeksang win added, she has cemented her status as one of South Korea’s leading actors known for powerful performances.

Her relentless busy streak continues. Kim Shin-rok has finished preparing to meet viewers through MBC’s new drama ‘Fifty Percent’, which is set to air soon.
