The film ‘Wild Sing’ (directed by Son Jae-gon) is out to tickle moviegoers this summer.
On the 11th, distributor Lotte Entertainment unveiled the main poster and trailer for ‘Wild Sing’, setting its box-office campaign in motion.
‘Wild Sing’ is a comedy about ‘Triangle’, a three-member co-ed dance group that once swept the music scene but disbanded overnight after being caught up in an unexpected incident, embarking on a reckless challenge 20 years later to seize a shot at a comeback.
Trailer for ‘Wild Sing’.
First, the main poster wittily captures five people facing hurdles, set against a car that has stalled with smoke billowing beneath a clear sky. From ‘Triangle’ members ‘Hyun-woo’ (Kang Dong-won), ‘Sang-gu’ (Um Tae-goo), and ‘Domi’ (Park Ji-hyun) desperately attempting to hitchhike, to ‘Seong-gon’ (Oh Jung-se) slyly flashing the signature ‘Love You’ pose from their heyday amid the chaos, and former ‘Triangle’ agency head ‘Yong-gu’ (Shin Ha-kyun) wearing a detached expression. Their sharply contrasting appearances hint that the road to getting back on stage will be anything but smooth. In particular, the copy line “Today, we are getting on that stage no matter what” teases their cheerful, all-out struggle to seize a last chance, stoking curiosity.
The trailer briskly depicts the dazzling heyday and breakup of the legendary three-member co-ed dance group ‘Triangle’ that once emerged from ‘Yong-gu Records’. As time passes and the reality of being forgotten by the public sinks in, ‘Hyun-woo’ falls into despair, but when a glimmer of hope appears to return to the stage, he sets out to find the scattered members, only to be met with cold rejection. After many twists and turns, ‘Triangle’ comes back together, and even the perpetual runner-up ballad prince ‘Seong-gon’ joins them, yet their journey toward the venue is filled with obstacles. A flurry of unforeseen incidents, including a nail-biting chase with a police car, delivers unpredictable fun and laughter. At the end of the trailer, the solemn greeting from ‘Hyun-woo’, who looks into the camera and says “See you soon”, raises anticipation over whether they can safely make it onto the stage.
‘Wild Sing’, which has drawn buzz over Kang Dong-won taking on an idol role, opens on June 3.
