MBC ‘21st-Century Grand Prince’s Consort’
The affectionate Jung-woo has gone dark. Actor Noh Sang-hyun has shaken up the landscape of ‘21st-Century Grand Prince’s Consort’.
In episodes 9 and 10, Noh Sang-hyun convincingly portrayed Min Jung-woo’s emotional shift, maximizing immersion. As rumors spread, following the leak of the marriage contract, that Grand Prince Ian (played by Byun Woo-seok) was coveting the throne, Jung-woo heightened the tension by pleading, “Grand Prince, for the peace of the royal family and the nation, please end the regency.” Then, when Jung-woo set down the rosary he had always carried before his father’s tombstone, he heralded a full-fledged ‘descent into darkness’, instantly changing the course of the story.
Meanwhile, Jung-woo’s heart crumbled at Seong Hee-ju’s (played by IU) confession of love. In particular, as he looked at Hee-ju, who had fully realized her feelings for Grand Prince Ian, his line, “What a pity,” together with the acting in his eyes, once again drove viewers into gripping tension.

After that, Jung-woo’s transformed demeanor had viewers on the edge of their seats. Along with the revelation that Lord Yun Seong-won (played by Jo Jae-yoon) had tried to kill Grand Prince Ian and the news of a transfer of the throne to Ian, he cornered Queen Yoon I-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) with an icy fury, waging a taut confrontation that made it impossible to look away.
At the end of the episode, after Jung-woo asked Grand Prince Ian for a meeting in the council hall, the flames that shot up delivered a major shock, pushing curiosity about what comes next to its peak.
Min Jung-woo’s justified descent into darkness became even more three-dimensional when paired with Noh Sang-hyun’s weighty performance. Beyond line delivery, he rendered with precision even the tremors in his gaze, expressions, and breathing, perfectly mirroring the layered inner world of the character. Consequently, assessments continue that Noh Sang-hyun’s outstanding command of character and modulation completes the figure of ‘Min Jung-woo’ and firmly leads one pillar of the drama.
Meanwhile, episode 11 of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘21st-Century Grand Prince’s Consort’, which is racing toward its end along with Noh Sang-hyun’s charismatic twist, will air at 9:50 p.m. on the 15th (Fri).
