■ Park Na-rae, alleged abuse of power toward former managers and illegal medical procedures… Additional police questioning planned

TV personality Park Na-rae is scheduled to undergo additional police questioning.

On the 11th, Star News reported that Park Na-rae faces further questioning in connection with allegations including aggravated assault, defamation, violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, and violations of the Medical Service Act. The schedule for the questioning has reportedly not yet been set..

Previously, Park Na-rae became embroiled in controversy after former managers alleged that she received illegal medical procedures at her home and in her car through an unlicensed provider known as ‘injection auntie’. In response, Park Na-rae filed a complaint accusing the former managers of attempted extortion and occupational embezzlement, and she has already completed the complainant interview.

Park Na-rae had previously appeared twice before police for questioning, stating at the time, “I cooperated faithfully with the investigation and answered truthfully”. She added, “I plan to correct what is not true”, and bowed her head.

■ Lee Seung-hwan to the Gumi mayor: “Apologize like a man of Gyeongsang-do”

After partially winning a damages suit over a concert cancellation filed against Gumi City and others, singer Lee Seung-hwan demanded a public apology from Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho.

On the 11th, via his social media, Lee wrote, “As someone four years older, I will offer advice”, and added, “Brother, I was wrong. This one honest sentence would suffice”. He continued, “If Mayor Kim Jang-ho apologizes, I will accept the entirety of the first-instance ruling”, and argued, “We must not allow any further waste of taxes, drain on administrative resources, or erosion of trust”.

He added, “I will not appeal against the defendant, Gumi City”, and, “I will donate the entire amount of damages, excluding legal costs, to the Gumi City ‘Our Dreamlight Youth Orchestra’”.

Earlier, on the 8th, the Seoul Central District Court handed down a partial ruling in favor of Lee Seung-hwan and his agency Dream Factory in their damages suit against Gumi City and Mayor Kim Jang-ho. The court ordered Gumi City to pay a total of $93,750 (125,000,000 KRW) in damages.

The controversy began when Gumi City abruptly canceled a Lee Seung-hwan concert that had been scheduled for December of last year. At the time, Gumi City explained that it was “due to safety concerns, such as the risk of physical clashes with conservative groups”, but Lee Seung-hwan and his team objected, claiming that the venue demanded a signed pledge not to make political remarks.

■ Comedienne Park Min-young to run as a proportional representation candidate for the city council

Park Min-young, an SBS open-recruitment comedienne, will run as a proportional representation candidate for Seongnam City Council under the Democratic Party of Korea.

According to political circles on the 11th, Democratic Party of Korea candidate Park Min-young will stand in the proportional representation race for Seongnam City Council in Gyeonggi Province in the upcoming 6·3 local elections. During the party’s proportional primary, she expressed her ambition, stating, “I will prove myself with results, not performative politics”.

In 2014, Park became known through the SBS public comedy program ‘Uchatsa’ segment ‘ExtremesSexy and Boyish’. Since then, she has expanded her activities to acting and working as a live-commerce show host.

As for what prompted her entry into politics, she cited volunteer work that continued for more than ten years. She said she felt the need for institutional improvement after experiencing the limits of welfare and administration in the field, and is said to have prepared to run while majoring in political science at the graduate school of Yonsei University. She is currently serving as a vice chair of the National Women Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea.

Previously, in 2022, Park appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Geunhwang Olympic’ and, recalling her time on Uchatsa, confided, “It was difficult because of the short and tight costumes”, and, “I had no choice but to keep going, because if I lay down, my livelihood would be cut off”.
