“I’ll go and create the performance of my life”
Singer Hwang Yoon-seong, ahead of the ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol’ final, showed high energy on ‘News Fighter’ and revealed his desire for victory.
Appearing on MBN’s ‘News Fighter’, which aired on the 11th, Hwang Yoon-seong, together with the TOP10 members, displayed exceptional chemistry ahead of the final of the trot audition ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol - Rank War of Trot Men’ (hereafter ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol’) and captivated viewers with witty banter.
At anchor Jeong Tae-woong’s request to introduce himself with a song that best expresses him, Hwang Yoon-seong delivered Kang Moon-kyung’s ‘Juldeut Maldeut’, which had earned him third place in the ‘Fame Selection’ preliminary of ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol’, and introduced himself as “trot push-and-pull guy Hwang Yoon-seong,” instantly elevating the mood from the start with a distinctive presence.
To the question, “Did you challenge ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol’ to take back the song that was taken from you while you were in the army?”, he said, “Our company manager, Chief Song Seong-ho, who is also famous as senior Lee Young-ja’s manager, sang my song in a trot competition audition while I was serving. He sang it so well, and at events and wedding ceremonies he would sing my song ‘Gaya Handamyeon’,” sharing a bittersweet behind-the-scenes story that drew laughter. To the follow-up, “Do you feel your popularity these days?”, he answered, “Since I’ve made it to the final, I feel I’ve regained initiative over the song, but the final ranking is what matters,” adding, “Please keep voting and cheering for me until the end,” expressing his sincere resolve.
His warm chemistry with his same-age peer Lee Dae-hwan, who appeared alongside him, also drew attention. Speaking about Hwang, Lee said, “I’m not the type to approach people easily, but even though he’s a celebrity, (Hwang) treated me so warmly. He first came up to me saying ‘buddy,’ which won me over,” and added, “He’s truly kind and someone I want to emulate. And he’s even handsome.”
Hwang also showcased on set the stage for his new song ‘Nalli Blues’, which placed him third in the first round of the final, the ‘Hit Song Mission’. Standing up to dance, he delivered a passionate performance and said, “It’s a highly addictive dance trot. It’s easy to sing along, so please sing along a lot, and there’s a challenge too, so I ask for your active participation.”
To the question, “When do you feel you’re now famous, or still unknown?”, he replied, “I use public transportation a lot, and these days there are times on the subway when I feel a bit of inconvenience as some people start to recognize me. At those times I think, many people are watching me,” while adding, “When I feel I’m still unknown is when people don’t remember my name all the way and only get as far as ‘Hwang…’. Still, I’m very grateful just to be recognized.”
Lastly, Hwang said, “Since it’s the life-song mission, I’ll go sing with the mindset of pouring everything out on stage,” and wrapped up with a witty farewell: “No. 7. Please vote se-ven.”
Hwang is currently appearing on ‘Mumyeong Jeonseol’, imprinting his presence each round with powerful stages. With the live final featuring real-time text voting set for the 13th approaching, anticipation is building over whether he will once again deliver a career-defining stage and take the crown.
