tvN ‘Kill It : The Style Creator War’ broadcast screen
Intense from the start.
In the tvN show ‘Kill It : The Style Creator War’ (hereafter ‘Kill It’), which premiered on the 12th, 100 of the hottest creators in the fashion scene were shown opening the curtain on a fashion war.
The episode began powerfully by spotlighting 100 suitcasesthe weapon bundles the participants brought for survival. Then, on a stage reminiscent of a runway, all 100 contestants made their entrances, starting with the ‘model’ Jae-in, and the 100th and final participant, Choi Mina-su, appeared tagged with the keyword ‘No.1’, heightening the tension.
Next, the leaders of each label appearedfrom ‘Black Label’ Jang Yoon-ju∙Lee Jong-won∙TOMORROW X TOGETHER Yeonjun to ‘White Label’ Cha Jung-won∙Shin Hyun-ji, and ‘Red Label’ Ahn Ah-reum∙Yanggaengand Round 1 of the style war, in which only 50 would survive, began at once.
The mission, called ‘Photogenic’, required contestants to complete self-styling within a 60-minute limit; advancement to the next round was determined by combining the number of on-the-spot shots taken by 40 photographers with the six people each of the three labels wanted to cast.
Two minutes after the mission began, Yoyo took the stage and even turned putting on shoes onstage into a performance, while Yeo Yeon-hee and Bae Yoon-ji also stepped up with quick judgment, drawing the photographers’ attention early in the round.
Jung Ria, dubbed ‘Hueningkai nuna’, who went on stage with Dasha, confessed, “I do not think I will ever shake off the shock of that moment,” when not a single person photographed her.
Choi Mina-su adopted a ‘build-up strategy’, taking the stage with a relaxed walk even when it was empty and drawing a barrage of shutters, but when Tiara Torelli appeared and photographers drifted away, she admitted, “All the attention that had been on me was shifting over there, and I did not want to stay any longer. My pride is hurt.”
In the latter half, the split between eye-catching contestants and those who were not became stark, with Shin Hyun-ji coolly assessing, “Contrary to expectations, some people who were visible on social media are not visible here,” and Jang Yoon-ju adding, “Only the ones who clearly stand out are visible.”
When the first half of Round 1 ended, the interim evaluation revealed Dasha∙Jae-in∙Tiara Torelli sweeping the choices of all labels to lead as triple winners. In the photographers’ score tally, Yoyo ranked first, Yeo Yeon-hee second, and Dasha third.
‘Kill It’ captured attention from its first broadcast with a feast of ‘visual shock.’ The contestants’ attractive, confident presence drew admiration, and the raw competitiveness delivered the thrilling fun unique to survival entertainment.
It airs every Tuesday at 10:10 p.m., and is also available on Tving right after broadcast.
