“Trot gave me great strength”
Lee Chang-min, from idol group 2AM, gave home viewers a lingering resonance with ‘Empty Carrier’ and rose to 6th place in the final ranking of ‘Legend of the Nameless’.
Singer Lee Chang-min placed 6th on ‘Legend of the Nameless’, earning a spot in the TOP7.
On the May 13 broadcast of the MBN trot audition ‘Legend of the Nameless- Trot Men’s Ranking War’ (hereafter ‘Legend of the Nameless’), Lee Chang-min took on the second finals round, the ‘Life Masterpiece Mission’.
Ahead of the finals, Lee Chang-min met his music mentor for a candid conversation. Having taken on a new challenge, he conveyed his sincere heart for music and moved listeners.
Lee Chang-min said, “During a very difficult time, the genre called trot gave me great strength” and “While every contestant surely has their own earnestness, I am just as earnest,” speaking candidly.
Also, declaring with resolve, “Since it is the final stage, I will do my best and create a performance with no regrets,” he selected the song ‘Empty Carrier’ by Namjin and took the stage. With his signature, deeply appealing voice and profound emotion, he delivered a highly immersive performance that left a deep afterglow.
After the performance, Im Han-byul praised him, saying, “I loved the way you sang softly,” and added, “It seems you leapt into ‘Legend of the Nameless’ carrying many expectations, and it felt like you shared many of the things in that carrier with the contestants and the judges. Now that you have put all that burden down and performed the final stage with a light heart, it was impressive.” He went on to encourage him, “I hope you continue to fill the empty carrier with a wider variety of things.”
In the final ranking revealed at the end of the broadcast, Lee Chang-min ranked 6th, securing his place in the TOP7. Through this challenge, he once again proved his potential as an all-around entertainer who can handle diverse genres beyond ballads. Attention now turns to which musical path he will pursue going forward between pop ballad and adult contemporary.
Lee Chang-min recently wrapped the Hong Kong performance of the 2026 2AM concert ‘Today, 2am’ with great success, and he is set to meet fans with Seoul performances on June 13 and 14.
