Baby Rose, whose deeply resonant voice evokes Nina Simone, has announced that the new album ‘YEARNALISM’ will be released on July 10. The pre-release single ‘BUT, NVM’ has also been unveiled.
Baby Rose will release the new album [YEARNALISM]. The album is set for release on July 10 via Secretly Canadian, and the new song ‘But, Nvm’ and its music video were pre-released together.
The project captures various forms of love, including romantic love, self-love, and love for those around us, and the deep yearning born of those emotions as the album's core theme.
The video directed by Amaya Segura and Rae Blackman visually conveys Baby Rose's analog sensibility and her respect for artists of past eras renowned for superb musicianship. While maintaining her signature emotional candor, Baby Rose presents an even more clearly defined sound of her own.

The previously released single ‘Friends Again’, a collaboration with Leon Thomas, was the first work to reveal the album's new direction. Since its release, the track has accumulated 14 million streams worldwide, becoming Baby Rose's most successful song. The two reunited after ‘I USED TO’ from Leon Thomas's Grammy-winning album MUTT.
Rooted in gospel and soul music, Baby Rose is regarded as one of today's most distinctive artists. To date, she has amassed 41.2 million streams worldwide and began drawing significant attention with her 2019 debut project [To Myself].
At the time, she received support from SZA, J. Cole, James Blake, Kehlani, and LeBron James, and earned praise from major outlets including The New York Times, Pitchfork, Vogue, NPR, Rolling Stone, and Billboard.
She went on to broaden her profile through an NPR Tiny Desk performance and a sold-out world tour, and by contributing to the HBO series Insecure and Kenya Barris's Grown-ish. She also earned a Grammy nomination for her participation in Dreamville's Revenge of the Dreamers III, and contributed to albums by Big K.R.I.T. and Matt Martians.
On [Through and Through], released in 2023, she showcased genre-crossing musicianship through collaborations with Smino and Georgia Anne Muldrow. She then embarked on the ‘Through The Soul’ tour with Q, and in 2024 released the collaborative project [Slow Burn] with BADBADNOTGOOD. In 2025, she appeared in the A24 film ”The Materialists“ performing ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ and ‘That’s All’, and ‘Friends Again’, released in 2026, has so far achieved her greatest commercial and critical success.
[YEARNALISM] opens a new chapter for Baby Rose. Drawing on soul, gospel, jazz, rock, and R&B, she reframes the influence of the music that defined the classic soul era and of female artists such as Etta James, Nina Simone, and Janis Joplin through a contemporary lens.
