The emotion of ‘Daegunppyu’ once again!.
As ‘21st-Century Grand Consort’ heads toward its finale, it eases fans’ sense of regret with a special album that gathers all of its much-talked-about OST tracks.
Kakao Entertainment announced that the physical OST album for the MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘21st-Century Grand Consort’ will be officially released on June 5. Ahead of the official release, pre-orders begin today (the 15th) through major record sites. As the OSTs that heightened immersion by being woven into key scenes each episode can now be owned as a physical album, expectations are building not only among drama fans but also among music fans.
This physical album comprises a total of 56 tracks. Along with 11 previously unveiled vocal tracks and the unreleased new song by ALEPH, “Already Free,” it also includes 44 score tracks that delicately chart the romance of Seong Hee-ju (played by IU) and Grand Prince Ian (played by Byun Woo-seok) and the characters’ emotional arcs. From bright, fluttering romance to precarious, subtle conflicts and the narratives of characters who defy fate, it brings together music that runs through the entire work. Its diverse composition, which revives the drama’s emotion and lingering resonance, also draws attention. In addition to the CD, the album includes photo cards, a film bookmark, and a poster, making it a special gift for fans who have loved ‘21st-Century Grand Consort’.
The ‘21st-Century Grand Consort’ OST drew buzz even before release with the participation of leading Korean artists such as BIBI, KiiiKiii, RIIZE, WOODZ, BOYNEXTDOOR, and Han Roro; since release, it has continued its popularity with steady results on major domestic and international charts. In particular, key OSTs such as WOODZ’s “EVERGLOW” and RIIZE’s “Behind The Shine” have posted standout results not only on major domestic services such as Melon but also on global charts including iTunes in Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and Indonesia, proving their competitiveness as music IP. In addition, the OST “Parallel Lines,” sung directly by Byun Woo-seok, who plays Grand Prince Ian in the drama, is also being officially released on the 15th, drawing the eyes of fans worldwide.
Before the physical album release, the online special album ‘21st-Century Grand Consort OST Special,’ which compiles the OST tracks, will also be released at noon on the 16th via various music platforms. This album includes not only the vocal tracks previously released by the participating artists but also the score tracks inserted into key scenes throughout. With its stylish visuals, passionate performances, and high-quality OST coming together to earn an enthusiastic response from viewers at home and abroad, both this online special album and the physical album are expected to ease the disappointment of the series ending and carry forward its lingering emotion.
