Kim Mi-ryeo, Kim A-young, and Heo Soon-mi, who appear in the musical ‘Wickedly Fun Gashinadeul’, will transform into grandmothers and appear on ‘TV Show Jinpum Myeongpum’. They will wear stage costumes and wigs for a complete transformation and will even perform a musical number.
Kim Mi-ryeo, Kim A-young, and Heo Soon-mi will join as the appraisal panel on KBS1 ‘TV Show Jinpum Myeongpum’, airing at 11:10 a.m. on the 17th. Ahead of their performance at the National Theater of Korea Haneul Theater in Seoul, the three actors are expected to show lively, real-time energy on this episode.
‘TV Show Jinpum Myeongpum’ is an antique appraisal program that uncovers authentic and masterful pieces buried by time to offer the joy of learning and discovery, and confirms the true value of Korean antiquities through the keen eyes of professional appraisers. In the episode, Kim Mi-ryeo, Kim A-young, and Heo Soon-mi will take part in the appraisals with their signature wit.
The trio will enter the studio in the musical’s costumes and wigs, drawing viewers’ attention as if the main characters had stepped straight off the stage.

They will also perform musical numbers infused with the real lives of grandmothers from Chilgok, delivering warm emotion to viewers at home. Voices that convey the thrill of learning felt at life’s twilight after years of sorrow from not knowing how to read, along with life’s joys and sorrows, are expected to deeply move viewers.
The musical ‘Wickedly Fun Gashinadeul’, featuring Kim Mi-ryeo, Kim A-young, and Heo Soon-mi, is a stage adaptation of the documentary film ‘Chilgok Gashinadeul’, which tells the true story of grandmothers in their eighties who learned Hangul and began writing poetry. Around twenty poems by actual grandmother students have been reborn as musical numbers, delivering a lump-in-the-throat kind of emotion. Its premiere last year swept the 10th Korea Musical Awards, winning Best Production (fewer than 400 seats), Best Direction (Oh Kyung-taek), and Best Book (Kim Ha-jin), proving its quality.
In the show, Kim Mi-ryeo and Heo Soon-mi play the 75-year-old ‘In-sun’, who has lived her whole life taking comfort from a Pushkin poem taught by her first love, while Kim A-young plays the 89-year-old ‘Yeong-ran’, who once found a picture book handed to her by her grandchild frightening because she could not read.
This revival features, in addition to Kim Mi-ryeo, Kim A-young, and Heo Soon-mi, Gu Ok-bun as ‘Yeong-ran’; Cha Chung-hwa, Park Chae-won, and Kim Na-hee as ‘Chun-sim’; Kang Ha-na and Lee Ye-ji as ‘Bun-han’; Kang Jung-woo, Kim Ji-cheol, and Jang Min-su as ‘Seok-gu’; and Ha Eun-ju and Shin Jin-gyeong as ‘Gae-ul’, assembling a cast of actors with solid skills that is drawing high expectations.
The musical ‘Wickedly Fun Gashinadeul’ opened on the 15th and will run through June 28 at the National Theater of Korea’s Haneul Theater in Seoul.
