The follow-up story of the ‘PUBG couple’, whose tale of a wife diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and the husband who stays by her side set the internet ablaze, will be revealed.
MBC’s ‘Oh Eun-young Report’, airing at 9 p.m. on Monday, May 18, will present a Family Month special titled ‘Again, Love’. The two-part ‘Again, Love’ is the 2026 edition of the ‘Love’ series, jointly brought back by the current affairs and culture division behind the former nationwide tearjerker ‘Human Documentary Love’, and it aims to reflect on the ‘essence of love’ through stories of families who do not let go of each other’s hands even amid unexpected tragedy.
The protagonist of Part 1 is the ‘PUBG couple’ who drew attention online. For his terminally ill wife who loves games, the husband posted on an online community to recruit users who would “let themselves be killed by my wife on purpose.” Countless gamers voluntarily joined the event at the time, delivering deep emotion, and it became a hot topic after being featured on the news. The broadcast will reveal what happened afterward.

Five years into a happy marriage, they were struck by a bolt from the blue: a diagnosis of terminal stomach cancer. The husband confides, “Seven months after giving birth to our second child, my wife went to the ER with abdominal pain and was diagnosed with peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer. They said 80% of her colon was necrotic, and her organs had hardened like stone.” He says there had been no particular warning signs before the ER visit. Recalling the moment of diagnosis, he says, “The doctor said it was beyond the realm of human treatment. He said today or tomorrow could be the last.”
After the game event ended, moved by his wife’s words, “I want to live,” the husband confesses that he did not submit a consent form to forgo life-sustaining treatment. However, her condition has been worsening over time. Enduring repeated surgeries and excruciating pain, and having been on opioid painkillers for three months, the wife says calmly, “It would be better to be born anew.”
Watching this, the husband finally turns away to wipe his tears. During filming, she even has to undergo an emergency procedure, and the husband weeps endlessly, saying, “Hang on, stay strong.” Witnessing this, Jang Dong-min and Moon Se-yun also end up in tears, and Dr. Oh Eun-young sobs as well, saying, “Not every couple can do this. With all my heart, I hope for a miracle.”
