The new release ‘Second Impact’ from big band AnnoyingBox is drawing attention for a fusion sound that delivers overwhelming immersion and breaks down the boundary between fine art and popular music.

At 6 p.m. on the 15th, the big band AnnoyingBox released its second EP ‘Second Impact(Second Impact)’, notable for a limitless sound that fuses a meticulously constructed universe and genres.

Led by creator Jo Maeryeok, members with distinct artistic trajectories, including jazz saxophonist Lee Samsu, jazz pianist Jimin Dorothy (Jimindorothy), and producer MUXANT (Mutant), joined forces to form AnnoyingBox, a big-band project capturing public attention with singular storytelling. Completed as part of a new project by the agency CAM to support the production of albums and related content by external artists, this new release further strengthens and expands that narrative.

The new release ‘Second Impact’ sets its stage 500 years in the future under the main theme of ‘an alien who has settled on an unfamiliar Earth’, where humans and aliens coexist. Building on the storyline continued from the first EP, it depicts the process of conflict and harmony surrounding sound as alien technology.

Through a metaphor that recasts the public in the real world as ‘humans within the universe’ and musicians devoted to the pure arts, such as Korean traditional music, jazz, and classical, as ‘aliens’, it shapes the coexistence and conflict of heterogeneous beings, and their ultimate harmony, into a dense, multidimensional sound.

Moving beyond mere appreciation to deliver a synesthetic immersion in which music and narrative are combined, AnnoyingBox widens the scope of its universe starting with this album.

AnnoyingBox plans to unveil a range of collaborations and live content in sequence, steadily building a self-sustaining musical ecosystem.
