Choi Jun-hee, daughter of the late Choi Jin-sil, announced that she would directly respond to rumors aimed at the family who raised her shortly after her wedding.
On the 18th, Choi posted portions of her conversations with family on her social networking service (SNS) Instagram, stating, “The whole family is in a rage.”
She continued, “People keep spouting nonsense, calling our great-aunt a sitter or whatever,” and warned, “If you go around spreading rumors, I will catch every last one.”
This came in response to posts in some online spaces belittling the great-aunt who attended the wedding as a ‘paid sitter’.
On the same day, in another post, she also directly expressed affection for her great-aunt. She uploaded a photo taken with her great-aunt in hanbok while she wore a wedding dress, writing, “The one my mom loved most, and the one I love mostour granny.” She added, “The universe called (grand)mother raised a life,” and “No matter what anyone says, I love you more than anything in the world.”
The great-aunt Choi mentioned has scarcely appeared in public. By using the phrase “the one my mom loved most,” Choi hinted that the great-aunt also had a special relationship with the late Choi Jin-sil during her lifetime.
After the late Choi Jin-sil’s death in 2008, Choi Jun-hee and her older brother, Choi Hwan-hee, were under the guardianship of their maternal grandmother, Ms. Jeong. However, it later became known that relations with the grandmother broke down, including a trespassing report in July 2023; the same month, it was also reported that Choi apologized and submitted a letter of non-punishment.
On the 16th, Choi Jun-hee held a wedding ceremony with a non-celebrity man 11 years her senior at a hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. For the bride’s entrance, her older brother, Choi Hwan-hee, walked with her in place of their parents. The ceremony was hosted by Cho Se-ho. At the wedding were Uhm Jung-hwa, Hong Jin-kyung, Lee So-ra, Lee Young-ja, and Jung Sun-hee, among others, who had shared a friendship with the late Choi Jin-sil during her lifetime.
