Singer and actor Kim Min-jong (54) signaled legal action, saying the private-life rumors asserted by rapper MC Mong are “not true.”
In a statement released on the 19th through his legal representative, OKIMS Law Firm, Kim said, “I feel heavy-hearted that my name has been mentioned amid various talk today, causing concern and confusion for many,” adding, “I state clearly that the matters currently being discussed about me are not true.”
He continued, “We will sufficiently verify and organize the facts regarding the matters in question, and for what is necessary, pursue civil and criminal liability.”
His legal representative OKIMS also issued a separate statement, saying, “Groundless private-life rumors and malicious suspicions about Kim Min-jong are spreading indiscriminately, centered on online communities, social networking services (SNS), and certain sensational media outlets,” and, “Everything about Kim Min-jong being discussed online is clearly false.”
It added, “We will also take strong, all possible legal measures, including claims for damages, against outlets that have infringed personality rights by definitively portraying unverified circumstances as if they were facts.”
This statement by Kim Min-jong came after MC Mong, in a personal live broadcast on the 18th, asserted, “I intend to expose construction businessman Chairman A, groups involved in illegal gambling worth tens of billions of won, and even the related entertainers,” and, “The misdeeds of the circle of Chairman A and other entertainers, including Kim Min-jong, who, while helping him, are contributing to destroying me.”
In addition, in December last year, MC Mong flatly denied an allegation of an affair with the CEO of Chagawon Onehundred, saying, “The KakaoTalk messages were fabricated,” and signaled legal action. After five months, MC Mong newly called out Kim Min-jong.
From 2012 to 2021, Kim Min-jong served as an outside director at SM C&C, and after taking office as co-CEO of KC Contents in July 2023, he appeared as a witness at a National Assembly audit hearing in October of the same year over alleged preferential treatment in the Incheon K-pop Content City project, explaining, “In 35 years since debut, I have done nothing wrong.”
