Singer and music producer MC Mong (46; legal name Shin Dong-hyun) has sparked a stir by exposing private matters, even mentioning by real name a famous middle-aged actress, while raising allegations connected to Mr. A, the paternal uncle of Cha Ga-won, chairman of One Hundred Label.
On the afternoon of the 18th, MC Mong conducted a live broadcast on his social networking service (SNS) and alleged habitual illegal gambling by Mr. A, among other claims. In particular, during this process, MC Mong asserted that Mr. Cha has been in a relationship with middle-aged actress Ms. B for five years and directly mentioned Ms. B by her real name. He added specific circumstances, saying, “Her daughter calls Mr. A father.”
Regarding the background to these revelations, MC Mong displayed a heated reaction and strong hostility, saying, “If you have ruined me like this, you should be ruined even more; let us go all the way.”
In the broadcast, beyond the private-life revelations, MC Mong also forcefully raised allegations of illegal gambling surrounding Mr. A and of celebrity involvement. He claimed that Mr. A and his companions made the rounds of room salons while playing online baccarat, with tens of billions of won changing hands, and said, “When money is won there, it goes to the hostesses, and by his side is celebrity Mr. C, who receives tens of millions of won in tips,” while naming Mr. C by his real name.
He went on to say that he had obtained recordings and messages containing accounts that singer-actor Mr. C received tips and that, in Japan, he handed 10 million won to women, warning, “If you sue for defamation, I will disclose those messages as they are.” He also hinted at further disclosures, saying there are two other celebrities implicated in gambling and the second paternal uncle of a global star.
In response, Kim Min-jong, who was identified as C, on the 19th issued an official statement through his lawyer: “It is not true.”
Meanwhile, in July last year, MC Mong was removed from company duties for ‘personal reasons’ and stepped down from his producer role at One Hundred. Since then, various allegations have surfaced around him, but MC Mong has consistently denied them.
