Former AOA member Kwon Mina personally disclosed the court outcome of a sexual assault case from 18 years ago and her current state of mind.

On the 19th, Kwon Mina posted a long message on her Instagram, opening with “Today is the day that brings to an end a journey of more than four years.”

She recently shared on her Instagram, “When preparing for the trial, it was a case from 14 years prior, so I felt great expectation and hope upon hearing that, if not only rape but also the charge of bodily injury were recognized, the statute of limitations would not have expired and the perpetrator might face heavy punishment.”

She continued, “Now that rulings have come down through the appellate level, rape was recognized, but bodily injury was not, leaving a reality in which, because of the statute of limitations, no further punishment can be imposed,” while adding, “As the victim, what mattered to me was guilty or not guilty, and I place great meaning on even one charge being acknowledged. In any case, it has been revealed that he is a bad person, so I intend to be content with the result for now.”

Kwon Mina said, “Eighteen years ago, because of the climate of the times, I had no choice but to keep quiet and hide it, but things are very different now,” and “I hope other victims will not blame themselves or hide; it is not something to be ashamed of, so please find the courage to speak up.”

She also expressed gratitude, saying, “I am truly sorry and grateful to the police officers and prosecutors who shouldered the burden in my stead and ran alongside me all this time.”

She revealed that she is also preparing litigation in another case, confessing, “As with this case, unless I work very hard and take the lead myself, no one can do it for me or protect me; I already feel tired and helpless in this reality.”

She went on, “Rather than being greedy about the outcome, I hope even one of my words will be recognized and accepted,” and added, “First, I plan to focus on treatment. I am just briefly exhausted, so please do not worry too much.”

Finally, Kwon Mina said, “I feel relieved now, as if I have finished one assignment,” and “I will work through the other assignments well, too.”

Previously, in 2023, she appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Jeomjeom TV’ and confessed that she had been sexually assaulted when she was a first-year middle school student. At the time, she said, “At a place I went following a friend, I was subjected to hours of assault and sexual assault,” and “That incident remains my greatest trauma even now.”

She continued, “At the time, I could not report it for fear of retaliation,” and “I had to bear it alone for a long time.” She also revisited the incident on an Instagram Live broadcast, describing it as “a scar that is not easily erased.”
