MBC ‘Radio Star’

Choi Jung-Hoon, the vocalist of the band Jannabi, shared a chilling account of a ghost sighting tied to the basement studio where numerous hit songs were created.

The broadcast on the 20th of MBC variety program ‘Radio Star’ was arranged as a ‘Radio Star Spring Festival’ special featuring Kim Chang-Wan, Choi Jung-Hoon, Roy Kim, and Han Roro, during which Choi drew attention by revealing an eerie episode he personally experienced in the studio.

On the show, while explaining the background behind Jannabi classics, Choi unsettled the studio by confessing, “I used the basement studio for about 7 to 8 years. I believed there was a ghost.”

He said a series of spine-chilling phenomena occurred, such as a sudden sewer smell in a sealed recording booth, or a doll suddenly flying across an empty space where no one was present.

As the unusual phenomena persisted, Choi said he eventually went with a friend to consult a shaman for a reading. He revealed that the shaman gave the shocking diagnosis, “A ghost is sitting on your shoulder,” heightening the tension.

However, the conclusion of the episode brought a twist and laughter. Choi explained that the shaman interpreted the presence of the ghost positively, saying, “It is good for someone who makes music to have a ghost.” He added that, because the ghost sitting on the shoulder could leave the body feeling achy, the shaman offered a thoroughly practical piece of advice: “Stretch often,” which had the set roaring with laughter.

Choi Jung-Hoon of Jannabi said that on the day he was told there was a ghost on his shoulder, a four-tier garment rack in the studio collapsed completely, adding, “I was so scared I did not even scream and just went home. I decided to think there is (the ghost) in the studio, and later I named it ‘Nani’ and have been living with it, because the fortuneteller said it helps.” This drew astonishment.
