KBS HappyFM ‘Shining Trot with Eun Ga-eun’
Singers Shinsung and Park Gyuri appeared together on ‘Shining Trot with Eun Ga-eun’. When asked “What is your relationship?”, they responded with a clear answer, saying it would be fine to call them “real siblings, basically family.”
Shinsung and Park Gyuri joined the ‘Shining Guest Corner’ of KBS 2 Radio HappyFM ‘Shining Trot with Eun Ga-eun’ on the broadcast that aired on the 21st.
That day, to DJ Eun Ga-eun’s question, “We are curious about your relationship,” Shinsung and Park Gyuri answered in unison, “It is fine to consider us family.”
Park Gyuri said, “We have been together from our previous agency through to our current agency, so we even share all of our secrets,” and added, “Back when Shinsung was debating whether to appear on a survival audition, I would advise, ‘You absolutely must go on,’ and before I knew it, he became a bigger ‘star’ than I am.”
Shinsung said, “I have four biological older sisters, and you can think of Park Gyuri as one more stepsister,” adding, “At this point, even if she changed her name to ‘Shin Gyuri,’ our parents could accept it. She is an older sister I am always grateful to, who gives me great help,” creating a warm atmosphere.
In the continued talk, Park Gyuri said, “Before debuting as a singer, I worked as a public servant in the Daegu City Traditional Music Orchestra and as a university lecturer,” and confessed, “While preparing for a doctoral program and keeping very busy, I was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage at the young age of 34.” She went on, “In my twenties, I once took the stage as a ‘chorus substitute’ for Drunken Tiger’s song ‘I Want You,’ and after a brush with death, I missed the stage so much that I released an album on a ‘self-funded’ basis,” revealing a surprising past. “After that, through ties with the military formed during my lecturer days, I came to appear on the female soldiers special episode of ‘Real Men,’” she added, sharing an intriguing debut backstory.
Shinsung said, “Before debut, when I was working at a company, I played the role of ‘mood maker’ at company dinners,” and continued, “Being recognized for my ability by my department head then led me to dream of singer activities, and afterward I recorded five wins on ‘Morning Forum-Challenge, the Stage of Dreams,’ which truly made me known.”
To Eun Ga-eun’s question, “Are you perhaps dating?”, he sighed, “Right now I am in no position to be picky,” and Park Gyuri chimed in, “Shinsung’s love life is so urgent that people even ask whether he likes men,” sending the studio into gales of laughter. Along with this, Shinsung said, “In March, thyroid cancer in my father recurred after seven years, and until he recently underwent surgery, I struggled a lot emotionally,” adding, “Fortunately, the surgery went well, so I felt relieved, and my father now looks brighter,” which drew warm support from listeners.
The pair also followed up with refined live stages. Shinsung belted out his hits ‘Hearty You’ and ‘Go for It Anyway,’ while Park Gyuri delivered a fantastic live with her new song ‘Rice Taryeong,’ released after seven years, and ‘Jagalchi Ajimae,’ sending the studio atmosphere to its peak.
Shinsung, runner-up on MBN’s ‘Burning Trotman,’ has, since debut, been loved as a skilled singer for solid vocals and deep emotion, along with the moniker ‘humidifier voice’. While receiving nationwide love with ‘Hearty You,’ he is also very active across various variety shows and as a broadcast MC.
Park Gyuri, a traditional music artist and the ‘original queen of the troops,’ has also established herself as a ‘health evangelist’ based on her experience of overcoming a cerebral hemorrhage in her thirties. She continues to be active across a range of health-related programs, including SBS ‘Good Morning,’ KBS1 ‘Ask Anything’ and ‘The Secrets of Birth, Aging, Illness, and Death,’ TV Chosun ‘Perfect Life,’ and ‘Healthy Morning Sunny Day.’
