MBC Every1 ‘Hidden Eye’
A shocking phone call recording related to the death case of director Kim Chang-min will be released.
On the 1st at 8:30 p.m., MBC Every1 ‘Hidden Eye’ focuses on the death case of director Kim Chang-min.
The broadcast reveals the full account of the case in which director Kim Chang-min, after visiting a restaurant with his son with a developmental disability in October last year, was subjected to a group beating. At the time, after being indiscriminately beaten by the male assailants, Director Kim lost consciousness and collapsed, and he ultimately died 18 days after being declared brain dead.
Initially, the male perpetrators were charged with causing death by injury, but during the dedicated investigation team’s inquiry, shocking circumstances surrounding the case emerged. In particular, a recording was secured in which perpetrator A, during a call with an acquaintance, made a statement to the effect of “I beat him to kill him,” and prosecutors ultimately reversed their earlier view and applied a murder charge.
It also came to light that the perpetrators attempted to destroy evidence, such as terminating their mobile phone service after the incident. They even appeared on a YouTube channel and said “It is uncomfortable being called a perpetrator,” and it became known that they released a hip-hop track under the stage name ‘Culprit’, which drew fierce criticism.
Watching this, Kim Dong-hyun reportedly could not contain his anger, saying “It seems to be mocking the deceased.” The broadcast examines, six months after the incident, whether the male perpetrators who took the life of director Kim Chang-min through severe violence will be punished and the current status of the case.
