Director Yeon Sang-ho’s film ‘Gunche’ surpassed a cumulative audience of 4 million just 14 days after its release.
Distributor Showbox said on the 3rd, citing the Korean Film Council integrated box-office computer network, that as of 5:12 p.m. that day, ‘Gunche’ had recorded a cumulative 4,000,131 admissions. According to the distributor, this means it reached the 4 million mark 14 days after release, the fastest pace among 2026 releases.
‘Gunche’ crossed 1 million on day 4, 2 million on day 5, 3 million on day 10, and 4 million on day 14, continuing this year’s quickest timeline among titles released in 2026. Under the same count basis, it ranked second at the 2026 box office.
The film depicts survivors isolated inside a building locked down by an outbreak as they face infected individuals that evolve in unpredictable ways. The cast includes Jeon Ji-hyun, Gu Gyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-bin, Kim Shin-rok, and Go Soo.
Recently, an event featured cast members appearing in theaters in infected-person makeup, drawing a positive response from audiences.
