The film ‘Wild Thing’ (directed by Son Jae-gon) remained at No. 2 at the box office on its opening day.

According to tallies from the Korean Film Council Integrated Computer Network for Theater Admissions on the 4th, ‘Wild Thing’ drew 160,758 viewers the previous day and entered the box office at No. 2. In effect, it did not benefit from an opening-day bump.

‘Wild Thing’ is a comedy about ‘Triangle’, a three-member coed dance group that once swept the music scene but was disbanded overnight after becoming embroiled in an unexpected incident, and their reckless attempt to seize a chance at a comeback after 20 years. Gang Dong-won took on an idol role at age 45, drawing attention. However, it failed to muster real strength against the ‘Gunche’ syndrome.

‘Gunche’ kept the throne. A total of 331,490 people chose it, bringing cumulative admissions to 4,043,759. The break-even point (3,000,000 admissions) was crossed just 10 days after release, and the film now appears to be on a stable box office track.

‘Backroom’ ranked third. It drew 114,110 viewers.

‘Michael’ and ‘The Strange Snack Shop Jeoncheondang’ placed fourth and fifth. They drew 37,148 and 30,346 viewers, respectively.
