“We live by becoming parts of one another.”
Since their debut, the four-piece pop-rock band ‘HeyMen’, which delivers messages of hope with an energetic sound, has won multiple contests including 2018 All That Music X Indiestance, MU:CON 2020, and the 2021 Penta Youth Star. In particular, by making the Top 5 on Mnet ‘Great Seoul Invasion’, they have drawn major attention at home and abroad for outstanding skill and musicality. At noon on the 4th, they release the EP ‘Dream’.
The heart beats, the eyes gaze, the ears listen, and the mouth sings. And the feet move forward. It is so natural that we forget, but the organs of our body, each with different roles, interlock organically to form a single life.
The new EP album ‘Dream’ by HeyMen begins from that very ordinary miracle. Beings that each do their part in their own places come together to become one, and that one in turn creates another community and society. Through this album, HeyMen sings about that dreamlike connection. HeyMen has consistently sung about relationships, people, and living together. In that continuum, ‘Dream’ most clearly speaks to the meaning of ‘together’.
The newly released EP album ‘Dream’ contains six tracks in total.
The title track ‘YNWA’ is like a letter to someone caught in anxiety and worry. Rather than flashy consolation or grand promises, it sings the plainest comfort: “I will walk beside you.” Guitar riffs laid over heavy, weighty guitar and bass rhythms emphasize a hopeful and positive force, in line with the song message. As the song flows, the mood gradually turns more minor, and the dynamics of the vocal make that comfort stand out even more deeply.

‘Pulse’ sings of the hearts of people who go beyond the biological meaning of being alive and move toward dreams and ideals. It is an anthem that holds solidarity, a cry, and the possibility of small change. The brisk rock sound created by drums, bass, and guitar, and the tension the rhythm brings, make the message even stronger, and the development that grows in intensity completes the song’s dazzling, powerful flow.
‘Breath’ tells how deeply someone can permeate a life. It unfolds feelings toward a being that can both sustain and break a person through the image of breathing. Based on the signature high-energy pop-rock sound of HeyMen and reconfigured with elements of metal, the late explosive band dynamics and the chorus melody line beat directly on the listener’s heart, conveying a sense of advancing together.
‘Squared Circle’ begins from a philosophical question about eternity and love. It captures our image of endlessly drawing a love that seems impossible, like a shape that cannot exist. In keeping with the message, repetitive, plain riffs stack over a bright, energetic sound to complete the track. Among the tracks on the EP, it shows the most lyrical texture, yet as the song flows, the overflowing sound explodes the listener’s emotions and boldly expresses the depth of the message. It is a song through which one can fully feel the wide musical spectrum of HeyMen.
‘Bloom’ begins from letters sent by fans. Expanding stories that music and concerts let one forget reality for a moment and take one to another world, it sings of the comfort and magic that music holds. The full sound that appears at the beginning, middle, and end, and the guitar riff laid on top, offer listeners a new sense of space, as if drifting through another world.
‘Eyes on me’ is a record of gratitude to the fans who stayed by their side even in the darkest moments. More warming than any dazzling lights were the eyes that looked at them, and that sincerity is contained here. Attempting a hybrid sound that further expands beyond the signature pop-rock of HeyMen, the song folds warm thanks into powerful energy. With a strong sound to the very end, it is perfectly suited to close the EP album ‘Dream’.
‘A dream is not something only for the special. The very moment of walking together, looking together, and breathing together may already be something like a dream,’ says HeyMen, and ‘Dream’ sings of that scene that is all the more precious because it is so natural.
Meanwhile, along with the EP release and signaling active activity, HeyMen has announced a solo concert titled ‘Dream’ to commemorate the EP release, to be held on June 12 at the KT&G Hongdae Sangsangmadang Live Hall, where they will meet fans. At this solo concert, in addition to tracks from the EP, audiences can enjoy HeyMen hits and a variety of performances. Also, on the release day of the EP, the 4th, advance pre-orders will be available for the physical CD of this EP album ‘Dream’.
