Lee Sang-min flaunted a singular eye for talent and made a daring pass decision.
In the YouTube channel ‘232 Project’ released on the 3rd, Lee Sang-min led the full-fledged second auditions, delivering both tension and laughs. ‘232 Project’ is an idol-training reality project that Lee Sang-min, who once swept the music scene, launched as he dreams of a fresh leap as a producer after difficult times and clearing his debts.
Lee Sang-min conducted the second auditions for ten first-round qualifiers. With deft control that moved between incisive critiques and warm mentoring, he took command of the audition room.
His thoughtful care that brought out contestants’ capabilities stood out. Hearing about applicant Hwang Da-in’s toe injury, he encouraged her, saying, “If you broke your second toe while working hard, I will pay for the treatment.” When Hwang Da-in then offered to show one more dance, he firmly dissuaded her to protect the applicant, displaying the qualities of a veteran producer.
Watching contestant Kim Min-jeong’s performance, Lee Sang-min found himself moving to the rhythm, showing uncommon immersion. He said Kim Min-jeong has a face that looks completely natural, yet he pinpointed that her dance movements lack extension, and he pondered deeply over her potential for growth.
The highlight of the audition was Lee Sang-min’s audacious pass declaration. After seeing contestant Kim Hyo-ri’s performance, he startled everyone with a direct remark: “You pass.” He spared no praise, adding, “That one is simply a celebrity,” and even sketched out grand future plans on the spot, revealing uncommon resolve.
Finally, regarding his own evaluation criteria, he showed confidence befitting the ‘Midas touch’ of his heyday: “There is no separate standard. If it catches my eye, that is enough,” heightening anticipation for future member selections.
