As IVE member Jang Won-young became embroiled in controversy over her airport demeanor, a video from a different angle showing her behavior was released and drew attention.

On the 30th of last month, Jang Won-young departed through Gimpo International Airport with her members to fulfill a schedule in Shanghai, China.

That day, a short video showing Jang Won-young from behind as she underwent the departure inspection spread online. In the footage, some claimed she stood with her arms crossed in front of an airport employee, was lax about removing her sunglasses and mask for identification, and finally received her passport with one hand, prompting an attitude controversy.

However, other online communities shared footage shot from a different angle rather than from behind. When her turn came, she appeared to hand her passport to the airport employee with both hands and to comply relatively smoothly with the request to show her face.

Counterarguments also began to surface, claiming that she crossed her arms only during the brief moment when the employee was scanning the passport in a machine, and that while she did receive the passport with one hand, calling it a controversy was a stretch.

Online commenters are divided between the views that “It is understandable” and that “It is excessive to be criticized for such matters.”

IVE, the group Jang Won-young belongs to, is in the midst of its second world tour concert, ‘Show What I Am (SHOW WHAT I AM)’. The group finished a performance at Kyocera Dome in Osaka in April and is scheduled to perform at Tokyo Dome on the 24th.
