‘Empty the glasses, lift the mood….’
Lee Jun-young, former chairman of the Choeseong Group and now a new hire at the Choeseong Group, attends his first team dinner.
In episode 4 of JTBC’s new SaturdaySunday drama ‘New Employee Chairman Kang’ (creator Kim Soon-ok/ screenplay Hyun Ji-min/ director Go Hye-jin/ produced by SLL, Corpus Korea/ original work by San-gyeong), Hwang Jun-hyun (played by Lee Jun-young), who has emerged as a person of interest in Choeseong Mulsan’s Materials Team 2, exudes an uncommon presence at the company dinner.
Known as the victim of a hit-and-run involving Choeseong Group chairman Kang Yong-ho (played by Son Hyun-joo), Hwang Jun-hyun drew major attention inside the company by demanding an internship at Choeseong Group as compensation. The fact that he, who had devoted his life solely to soccer, was suddenly jumping into office life raised questions for everyone.
However, this was not the will of soccer player Hwang Jun-hyun but of chairman Kang Yong-ho, who has taken up residence in his body. After the headbutt accident, Kang Yong-ho awoke in Hwang Jun-hyun’s body and, by entering Choeseong Group, is preparing a stern lesson for his daughter Kang Jae-gyeong (played by Jeon Hye-jin) and son Kang Jae-seong (played by Jin Goo), who shifted the blame onto him, while at the same time unfolding a grand plan to gift Choeseong Group to Hwang Jun-hyun, whose playing career was cut short by that accident.
Meanwhile, borrowing Hwang Jun-hyun’s body, Kang Yong-ho will live as an intern at Choeseong Group and, for the first time, experience drinking culture from an employee’s point of view. Hwang Jun-hyun becomes markedly displeased upon spotting his youngest daughter Kang Bang-geul (played by Lee Joo-myung), who returned to the country without his knowledge and now works at the same company, darting around the dinner to fill her seniors’ glasses. That is because he finds Choeseong Group’s team-dinner scene, where emptying one’s glass feels like a quasi-mandatory extension of work, quite disagreeable.
Yet the displeasure is short-lived, and Hwang Jun-hyun stuns everyone with an unexpected move. Seated one-on-one across from the executive director of the Materials Headquarters who hosted the dinner, he faces off before a table laden with bottles and takes center stage at the gathering. Meanwhile, Park Bong-gi (played by Lee Sung-uk), manager of Materials Team 2, looks on in a daze, fueling curiosity about what exactly Hwang Jun-hyun (Kang Yong-ho in) has pulled off at the dinner.
What kind of stir Lee Jun-young, outwardly a rookie employee and inwardly a chairman, will cause at the dinner can be seen in episode 4 of JTBC’s weekend drama ‘New Employee Chairman Kang’, airing today (the 7th) at 10:30 p.m.
