‘Ulzzang Generation’ alum Hong Young-gi left a suggestive response following controversy over her aligning with protests alleging election fraud.
On the 7th, Hong made public messages she exchanged with a fan on her social media. In the exchange, a fan sent, “This time, you could say ‘My skin is more of an emergency (sob)’ and promote a group purchase of skin probiotics!”, and Hong replied, “Nope, now my body and my skin are already perfect; the nation is in an emergency right now.”
Earlier on the 6th, Hong shared on her social media photos and videos from protest sites alleging election fraud in connection with the 6·3 local elections ballot paper shortage. The released photos showed protesters holding placards that read, “Please let the media know. They say it is not being reported”, “The media is reporting citizens as demonstrators”.

Afterward, Hong’s past remarks resurfaced online. In December 2024, during the martial-law emergency, she posted a promotional post for a diet supplement along with the phrase “My body is more of an emergency”. Some internet users pointed out the inconsistency, saying, “She kept silent during the martial-law crisis, and now she talks about democracy.”
In addition, as it became known that Hong was on an overseas trip during both the early voting and the main voting periods for the 6·3 local elections, criticism continues that “It is contradictory for someone who did not even vote to demand a re-vote.”
Meanwhile, during the main voting on the 3rd, some polling stations in Seoul’s Gangnam-gu, Gwangjin-gu, and Songpa-gu experienced shortages of ballot papers, causing voters to wait for long periods. Later, at the No. 2 polling station in Jamsil 7-dong, Songpa-gu, protesters demanding a re-vote blocked the polling station entrance, delaying the removal of ballot boxes.
On the 5th, Noh Tae-ak, chairperson of the National Election Commission, apologized for the ballot paper shortage and offered to resign, but demonstrations demanding a re-vote are still continuing around the Jamsil area.
