Actor Greta Lee shared her overwhelming feelings about newly joining the legendary franchise Toy Story 5, which has earned love around the world.

On the morning of the 8th, an online press conference for the film Toy Story 5 brought together actors Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Greta Lee, who discussed a range of topics related to the project.

Greta Lee, a Korean American actor newly joining the Toy Story series, greeted in Korean, saying it felt like a dream, that she was very happy to share the occasion with the wonderful cast, and asked audiences to look forward to the film.

In this installment, she voices Lilypad, a smart tablet that threatens the peace of the toys. Asked whether taking on a digital device character felt burdensome, Greta Lee admitted she initially felt pressure about having to portray a machine. She added that the directors asked her to focus on the human aspects of Lilypad, which helped her find a path to the character.

A mother of two in real life, she said she has long reflected on how to introduce smart devices to her children and how she handles them herself, and that playing Lilypad also became a chance to look back on her own life.

She highlighted a memorable scene to underscore the work’s weighty message. She noted a scene in which all the digital devices climb to a high place, and the view of the town felt like a zombie apocalypse; there was not a single child playing in the streets, as they were simply sitting on sofas staring at screens. She concluded that she was grateful to portray and convey such facets and themes of modern society through her character.

Meanwhile, Toy Story 5 follows Jessie, Woody, Buzz, and other toys who reunite for an unpredictable journey after an unprecedented crisis arises with the arrival of Lilypad, a smart tablet who becomes a new friend of Bonnie. It is scheduled to open on the 17th.
