Actor Kim Soo-hyun is taking his first step back with a commercial shoot.
His agency Gold Medalist acknowledged his return, telling ‘Sports Kyunghyang’ on the 8th that “Kim Soo-hyun is scheduled to film a commercial with a Philippine brand on July 14.”
Kim Soo-hyun has suspended his activities since last year after YouTuber Kim Seui raised allegations of a dating controversy involving him and the late Kim Sae-ron. Filming of his next project, the Disney+ series ‘Knock Off,’ was halted, and its release was also postponed indefinitely. In addition, damages lawsuits totaling around 10 billion KRW are underway from advertisers including FromBIO, Cuckoo Electronics, Trendmaker, Classys, Eider, and Mido.
However, the situation recently flipped as Kim Seui was sent to the prosecution under arrest on the 26th of last month on charges including spreading false information. On the 5th, Kim Soo-hyun’s side issued a statement, saying, “According to the police investigation, violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation by asserting false facts), the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Stalking Crimes, and the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (distribution of footage taken with cameras, etc.), as well as attempted coercion and intimidation, were recognized,” and added, “Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police referred Kim Seui to the prosecution in custody.”
They continued, “Although he was not a direct party to the incident and had been waiting for the procedures prescribed by law, we are deeply grateful to those who spoke up on behalf of Mr. Kim Soo-hyun over a long period.” They added, “We also extend deep gratitude to the investigative authorities who, out of the public eye, silently fulfilled their responsibilities, conducted the investigation based solely on evidence and facts, and revealed the truth, and to the judicial authorities for their fair and stern judgment regarding the suspect’s custody.”
