SBS ‘My Little Old Boy’
Singer Lyn revealed the backstory of how, in the home where she lives alone after her divorce, she came to spend most of her time in the bathroom.
On the afternoon broadcast on the 9th of SBS PowerFM ‘2 O’clock Escape Cultwo Show’, Lyn and Kim Soo-chan appeared as guests and showcased their wit.
Earlier, on the June 7 episode of the SBS variety program ‘My Little Old Boy’, Lyn appeared and, for the first time, revealed the new home where she has been living alone since divorcing Lee Soo of MC the Max last year after 11 years of marriage. On that broadcast, Lyn, upon waking, grabbed snacks and went straight to the bathroom; there, she not only ate snacks but also read, knitted, and even monitored her performances, handling virtually her entire daily routine therean unusual habit that surprised her mother and viewers.
That day on the ‘Cultwo Show’, when a listener asked why she stays in the bathroom, Lyn answered candidly, “It is warm, but it is also the smallest space in the house. When I am there, I feel at ease.”
Regarding concerns about hygiene, she emphasized, “Many people worry about cleanliness, but I clean the bathroom once a day. It may still be unsanitary, but that place is comfortable for me. Emotionally, it puts me at ease.” In particular, she added, “When it is too spacious, I get a feeling like a panic might come on?” adding to the sense of poignancy, and DJ Kim Tae-gyun responded with deep empathy, “I also feel comfortable when I am in the bathroom at home.”
Meanwhile, Lyn, who has been active recently in the trot genre, also shared news of the release of her new song ‘I Like It’. Produced with the direct participation of trot’s living legend Seol Woon-do, the song layers a refined semi-trot sensibility over an upbeat disco rhythm.
Regarding the background of the new song, Lyn indirectly alluded to the pain of her recent divorce, saying, “Have I not gone through a series of things.” She continued, “(Senior Seol Woon-do) was thoughtful, saying that when you feel bad and depressed, you should sing a feel-good song.”
She went on, “At first, I was surprised. I thought, ‘What is going on?’” and added, “He had often talked about working together. Then, suddenly and out of the blue, he gave me a bright song. It was not the time for that..”
Lyn said, “I said, ‘Sir, what are you doing?’ and he said that precisely at times like this you should sing a song like this,” adding, “I am glad to have met this song, and I am so grateful,” revealing a special affection for the track Seol Woon-do gifted.
